As the need to use various devices increases today (e.g. computer monitor, digital camera, cell phone), the production of images at different resolutions is needed. In this paper, we propose CSRBF (Compactly-Supported Radial Basis Functions) image format to store CSRBF coefficients. CSRBF is popular for scattered data interpolation. Since this image format has function representation of an image, resolution conversion can be easily performed with high precision. Because resampling is easy once it performs function representation by means of CSRBF. Furthermore, in an environment with restriction such as storage or network, we propose CSRBF using wavelet transform preprocessing (WTP) to reduce points for image compression. This technique can reconstruct a high precision image with less image degradation than the conventional techniques. We show the superiority by data reduction rate comparison of CSRBF interpolation and conventional techniques.

Imagine that you do not have access to your Blackberry, your cell phone, digital camera, laptop, or the World Wide Web. Imagine that this level of power and this level of language have all been denied to you. Finally, imagine that you are in a situation where information is filtered, withheld, distorted, or narrowed in the name of protecting your safety or even merely to control your thoughts and behaviors. Imagine those things; and you now have the intersection of critical literacy and technology.

Surface modeling is closely related to interpolation and approximation by using level set methods, radial basis functions methods, and moving least squares methods. Although radial basis functions with global support have a very good approximation effect, this is often accompanied by an ill-conditioned algebraic system. The exceedingly large condition number of the discrete matrix makes the numerical calculation time consuming. The paper introduces a truncated exponential function, which is radial on arbitrary n-dimensional space R n and has compact support. The truncated exponential radial function is proven strictly positive definite on R n while internal parameter l satisfies l ≥ ⌊ n 2 ⌋ + 1 . The error estimates for scattered data interpolation are obtained via the native space approach. To confirm the efficiency of the truncated exponential radial function approximation, the single level interpolation and multilevel interpolation are used for surface modeling, respectively.

Online reviews are valuable sources of information to help companies to make good decisions for business intelligence. In this study, we propose an Automatic Aspect-based Sentiment Summarization (AAbSS) system that has two components and can generate a summary as an output. The first component is the Aspect-based Knowledge Representation and Selection (AKRS) used to represent reviews based on aspects and their polarities for selecting aspect-based knowledge. To represent and selection knowledge, a set of frequency of polarity opinion strength, a summation of frequency of aspect, and an information of aspect are initiated. The second component is the Summary Format Generation (SFG) used to automatically generate three kinds of formats. In this component (SFG), new representations for visual and structured summaries, and a new way of applied natural language generation for a textual summary are proposed. In the experiments, 13 domains from benchmark datasets of customer reviews, e.g. cell phone, digital camera, etc. are used. The proposed system not only fast generates summaries having good performance when compared to other summaries generated by other systems and easily updated when adding new reviews in the same domain but also does not spend memory capacity to save any raw data.

Fast image acquisition is the most important part for societal impact of a developing country. This paper aims to demonstrate the potential use of micro fixed wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) system attached with high resolution digital camera for coastal mapping. In this study, six strips of aerial images of coastal area was captured using a high resolution compact digital camera known as Canon Power Shot SX230 HS and it has 12 megapixel image resolution. From the aerial images, photogrammetric image processing method is completed to produce mapping outputs such a digital elevation model (DEM) and orthophoto. For accuracy assessment, the coordinates of the selected points in the 3D of stereomodel were compared to the conjugate points observed using GPS and the root mean square error (RMSE) is computed. From this study, the results showed that the achievable RMSE are ± 0.018m, ± 0.013m and ± 0.034m for coordinates X, Y and Z respectively. It will anticipate that the UAV will be used for coastal survey and improve current method of producing with low cost, fast and good accuracy. Finally, the UAV has shown great potential to be used for coastal mapping that require accurate results or products using high resolution camera.

When the stripes are photographed by digital cameras,Moiré fringes will be in the photograph. With the displacement amplification of Moiré fringes, tiny movement of stripes can be calculated precisely. We expounded its calculating methods in this paper. Experimental data show that high precision can be guaranteed. It is well known that the high rate zoom characteristic of moire fringe technique can be well used in precise measurement of digital Camera’s displacement, and besides, widely used in machining, laboratory and photo-electricity equipment. With the development and popularization of digital cameras, especially the great advancement in image sensor’s performance, it now becomes possible to accurately measure the displacement from far away by taking into account the sensor’s moire effect.

Proposed and implemented two complete multi-channel spectral reconstruction methods based on basis functions and pseudo-inverse, and using RGB digital camera built up a reconstruction system. A set of algorithms that enable virtually complete digital response value correction were proposed. The root mean square error and color difference as evaluation criteria to compare the reconstruction accuracy of two methods, and experiment show that the accuracy of both methods is basically the same, but the basis function method is more suitable for multi-spectral reconstruction operations.
