Development and Characterization of High Strength Austenitic Stainless Steel for Down-Hole Application in Sour Environment With Superior Corrosion and Wear Resistance

Stainless steel alloys were made in the present study for application in Qatar gas wells which contain significant amounts of sour acid gas, a very corrosive environment. The alloys made in the present project contain very small amounts of nickel compared to the commercial available high-nickel alloys. In the present work, nickel is replaced with the elements nitrogen and carbon which are very abundant and are inexpensive. Because of the low nickel content of the alloys from the present study, the alloys should be economical to produce. The study showed that the new alloys resist attack by sour acid gas very effectively. Specifically, the alloys exhibit equal or better resistance to attack than commercially available high-nickel alloys made for application in sour gas environments.

Abstract The effect of the fiber orientation in a laminate is investigated experimentally when subjected repeated quasistatic indentation. All the laminates with different fiber orientation are subjected to indentation with a stainless steel spherical indenter of diameter 8.0mm on a universal testing machine for a maximum indenter displacement of 4mm. The rate of indenter displacement was 0.5mm/minute. Different parameters like load bearing capacity, indentation diameter, area of surface damage, etc., were recorded after 4mm of indenter displacement. All the parameters were studied and compared to evaluate the laminate with high strength

Due to the very good combination of the most outstanding properties of ferrite and austenite, the microstructure of duplex stainless steels allows them to obtain high strength and toughness levels even at low temperatures . As a result of these combined effects, duplex stainless steels have become very popular for many applications . In practice, the prolonged use of these materials at temperatures below approximately 500°C may cause an embrittlement of the ferrite phase, which has been called 475°C embrittlement. Thus, the isothermal aging at 475°C can be exploited to produce a variety of strength values associated with the corresponding decreases in ductility and variations of the fractal dimension of the fracture surfaces. No experimental measurements of the fractal dimension - tensile properties relationships are available for many commercial metallic alloys, then, the present experiments on a duplex stainless steel were conducted to show that the fractal dimension, D, many be used as a characterization parameter in fracture morphology - mechanical properties studies.

In this paper research was expanded on waste that can be recycled. There are so many different types of waste products available in our country that would ruin the environment. Three different products are considered to reduce some of the problems among them two are fibers and the other is polyethylene. Chicken feather rachis and Neem sawdust are the two different fibers and the reinforced material is high density polyethylene (HDPE). These materials are made as seven different compositions to find the ability of the sample in different characterizations. The seven compositions are 80H-10CF-10SD, 80H-5CF-15SD, 80H-15CF-5SD, 80H-20CF, 70H-30CF, 70H-30SD, 80H-20SD, and these compositions are made in CIPET, Hyderabad by using single screw extruder& strand pelletizer. These granules are prepared with the help of Injection moulding, the samples are examined by various testing to prove the ability, strength, structure of materials in individual, and combination forms. The testing conducted for the samples is that the Morphology of the sample was characterized using FESEM, XRD. It is examined that the ratios are light weight with high strength by using the testings and it gives perfect images without any cracks on the surface and no more defects among these ratios.
