This paper presents the probabilistic characterisation of basic variables of ship structures and their application in characterising ship hull response during collisions. 83 dog-bone samples from mild steel are tested until fracture by axial displacement and basic strength variable data are collected from their resulting stress-strain relations. The data are fitted with suitable probability density functions (PDFs), with the two best PDFs identified from Goodness-of-Fit (GoF) test results. In order to analyse response variability from ship hull collisions, indentation tests are done on six hull plate models by penetrating them with two bulbous bow models. A sampling technique is then used to select probable input design sets from the probabilistic characteristics derived for basic variables. These design sets are propagated through an automated nonlinear finite element (FE) simulation of the hull plate indentation to characterise hull plate response at the onset of rupture.

This study aims to examine the factors TATO, Size, and ROA of Price Earning Ratio (PER) on food and beverage companies listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2009 – 2012 which used the entire population of food and beverage companies listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) in 2009- 2012,  totally 16 companies,  was conducted with a purposive sampling technique. This study usessecondary data obtained from the publication of Indonesian Capital Market Directory (ICMD). The analysis technique used  the technique of multiple linier regression analysis with E-views program, Goodness of Fit Test and using the t-statistic for testing the partial regression coefficient with the 5% confidence level. In the classical assumption test results showed that there were no deviations classical assumption, this shows that the available data has been qualified to use multiple linier regression model. The conclusion of this research are : the TATO, Size, and ROA variable has not significant effect on PER. Regression equation obtained is PER = 24,191 – 1,022 TATO – 0,498 Size - 0,258 ROA. Coefficient of determination (adjusted _2) is 0.010 or 1 % which means only 1 % of PER is influenced by the independent variables, whereas the remaining balance of 99,0% is explained by other variable not prensented in the study.

The proposal of this investigation is the optimization design of bulbous bow-lines for a container vessel. The results of wave-making coefficients and relative data of wave-making field both from computation based on Green function method and Michell integral method are provided for 7 different designs of bulbous bow lines respectively in this paper. According to the minimum energy from the sample of average wave-making energy for each design of bulbous bow-lines, which is to be objective function in this computation, the geometric parameters for optimization lines of bulbous bow can be determined. Adopting CFD method, it is respectively calculated that the average wave energy change with the ahead extendable length of bulbous bow, the height above the baseline of bulbous bow and the transverse area of the bulbous bow at fore pole. By above three change curves, the optimization shape of the bulbous bow is gained. The resistance components and the wave-field for wave-making for ship hull by using CFD method have been validated based on corresponding model test results. Therefore, the optimized bulbous bow-lines can be used in the ship design practice.

Partographs are guidelines for childbirth observations that will facilitate labor assistants in first identifying emergency cases and complications for mothers and fetuses. Preliminary survey at the Sigi Community Health Sub-Center (Pustu) of the 8 Pustu midwives found two midwives (25%) to complete a complete partograph, six midwives (75%) incomplete. The purpose of this study was to determine the determinant factors associated with the use of partographs in labor. The design of this study used observational analytic methods with a cross-sectional approach. 24 BPM survey results were obtained with 30 samples of midwives who met the research criteria and data completeness. The sampling technique was by the total population. Data analysis used logistic regression. The multivariate analysis results showed that APN training was the most influential factor in the use of partographs in labor by midwives. Statistical test results obtained a POR value of 37.7 (95% CI 12.1 - 60.2). This study suggests that midwives must have APN certificates to be valid in providing services.

Herein, we present an integrated ship re-design/modification strategy that integrates the ‘Computer-Aided Design (CAD)’ and ‘Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)’ to modify the ship hull form for better performance in resistance. We assume a modular design and the ship hull form modification focuses on the forward module (e.g. bulbous bow) and aft module (e.g. stern bulb) only. The ship hull form CAD model is implemented with NAPA*TM and CFD model is implemented with Shipflow**TM. The basic ship hull form parameters are not changed and the modifications in some of the technical parameters because of re-designed bulbous bow and stern bulb are kept at very minimum. The bulbous bow is re-designed by extending an earlier method (Sharma and Sha (2005b)) and stern bulb parameters for re-design are computed from the experience gained from literature survey. The re-designed hull form is modeled in CAD and is integrated and analyzed with Shipflow**TM. The CAD and CFD integrated model is validated and verified with the ITTC approved recommendations and guidelines. The proposed numerical methodology is implemented on the ship hull form modification of a benchmark ship, i.e. KRISO container ship (KCS). The presented results show that the modified ship hull form of KCS - with only bow and stern modifications - using the present strategy, results into resistance and propulsive improvement.
