Wind Turbine Installation Vessel of a New Generation

A new type of the wind turbine installation vessel is developed. The concept utilizes the Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull (SWATH) vessel. High transit speed, excellent seakeeping, and quick installation sequence allow placing a large number of wind turbines within short time minimizing the time of offshore construction works. The paper deals with the design development of this concept. Such major subjects as seakeeping, model testing in seakeeping tank, wind turbine landing sequence, and the workability are covered in the paper. Special attention will be given to the design of the active motion compensation system applied in the hoisting system. Dynamic behavior of this system is studied. The motions of the vessel are also compensated by dedicated active anti roll and anti-pitch systems. These systems were also tested in a seakeeping tank.

In this paper, a new type of the offshore wind turbine installation equipment is proposed, which has 6 sets of intelligent legs. Each intelligent leg consists of two-UPS and one-UP. Based on the theory of the parallel mechanism, the mechanism of this offshore wind turbine installation equipment with 6 sets of intelligent legs is constructed. We take a set of the intelligent leg for analysis and conducted kinematic analysis and dynamic analysis on the offshore wind turbine installation equipment. Finally, by studying the fuzzy reliability of the kinematic accuracy of a branch, the reliability model of the whole mechanism of the installation equipment combined with the characteristics of installation process is established, and the calculation of the fuzzy reliability of the kinematic accuracy of the whole mechanism is carried out.

Objective: Tocreate an easy-to-use structure-based screening workflow using KNIME and open source software to prepare and screen virtual libraries in order to discover novel bioactive or drug molecules. Materials and Methods: In the preparation of the workflow we mentioned in the article KNIME version 4, AutoDock Vina, Pymol were used. KNIME plugins used in this study are RDKit KNIME Integration, ChemAxon/Infocom Marvin Extensions Feature, KNIME Python Integration, Lhasa Metabolism Feature, KNIME Ploty and KNIME JavaScript View. We have used Python3 and libraries in the python scripts through Anaconda installation. Results: A workflow that can work with a single click after making required adjustments which uses docking as structure-based screening method was created and tested. Conclusion: With the workflow we have created, it will be possible for researchers especially those who are working in the field of computer-aided drug design/development to create personalized molecule libraries, perform virtual screening, reporting the results in a short time with the least effort.

With the increase in awareness about protecting our environment and the support for the cause by all major economies of the world through the Kyoto Protocol, the importance of wind power has grown in stature since it is clean and the most viable renewable energy resource. The global annual market of new wind turbine installation is more than US$ 40 billion at current prices, considering world-wide installations of about 40000 MW annually. This paper reviews the growth of the wind power industry globally as well as in India. The opportunities for investment in this industry and problems associated with it are also discussed with specific reference to India. In the second part of this paper, the business model of two of the major wind turbine manufacturers of India, Suzlon Energy Limited, and Enercon India Limited are discussed and their strategies are compared.

AbstractWetlands have recently become of high environmental interest. The restoration effects on habitats like fens are one of the main topics of recent restoration ecology, especially due to their interconnection with other ecosystems. We studied the manual mowing effect on abandoned fen using the response of three study taxa: diurnal butterflies, flower-visiting beetles and vascular plants. Our results showed that butterflies seems to be quickly-responding indicator taxon for evaluation and that restored management had a positive effect on both species richness and composition of this insect group. The results indicated that the manual mowing effect could be rapid. In comparison with the surrounding landscape, we found that: (i) the manually mowed site was most similar to strictly protected area, (ii) some species of high conservation value could reach higher abundance in restored than protected site, and (iii) manual mowing could bring a new type of habitat (i.e., spatial heterogeneity) compared to the other management types (abandonment, conservation and agri-environmental mowing). The main implication seems to be optimistic for practice: The manual mowing of long-term abandoned fen is leading to the creation of habitat with high conservation value in a relatively short time.
