The Dynamics of Composite Cylindrical Shells
Keyword(s):
Abstract The dynamic collapse behavior of composite cylindrical shells subjected to a transverse point load is considered. The behavior of undamped cylindrical shells are analyzed with a finite element formulation that incorporates all nonlinear Green’s strain terms in the in-plane, directions. A higher order shear theory is also incorporated in the formulation. Characterizations of the chaotic nature of the post collapsed shell are also explored.
