Flutter analysis for a first stage rotor of a compressor assembly was performed using the traditional Single-Passage, Single-Row (SPSR) flow model, and the prediction results did not correlate well with the test findings. In the tests flutter was observed but the SPSR simulation results indicated no flutter. It was suspected that influences from the upstream and downstream rows, which were omitted by the use of the SPSR model, might have significantly altered the flutter behavior of this rotor in a multistage environment. To confirm this hypothesis and to better understand the multistage turbomachinery flutter problem, FAMR (Full-Annulus, Multi-Row) models were employed in the current study to accurately take into account the interferences generated by the presence of the neighboring rows and to capture the time-varying flow variations in all directions. It was found that the flutter performance predicted by a FAMR model can be dramatically different from that predicted by a SPSR model of the same design. The FAMR model showed that flutter can occur for this design, as indicated by test results. Present results indicate the potential impact of complex blade row interactions and aliasing on flutter behavior in a multi-blade row turbomachinery configuration. A simple sine-wave model was also used to better explain the FAMR simulation results and help the analyst in judging the efficacy of the FAMR simulation.

The Equivalent Turn Number of Coil (ETNC) is proposed for induction coil design. Simulation results show that the vibrationonthe induction coil’s structure. The optimized coil is composed by two symmetry parts on the condition of sinusoidal vibration. The effective value of output EMF of optimized coil increases 51.39% than uniform coil’s. In the experiment, the optimized and uniform coils are fabricated with 600 turns and comparatively studied in the same vibration-to-electrical generator. The test results show that the peak-to-peak value and effective value of output EMF of the optimized coil can increase up to 52.59% and 48.76%, respectively, compared with the uniform coil.

The wear-ring abrasion can cause performance degradation of the marine centrifugal pump. In order to study the effect of front and back wear-ring clearance on a pump, test and numerical simulation were used to investigate the performance change of a pump. The test results show that the head and efficiency of pump decrease by 3.56% and 9.62% respectively at 1.0 Qd due to the wear-ring abrasion. Under 1.0 Qd, with the increase of the front wear-ring the vibration velocity at pump foot increases from 0.4 mm/s to 1.0 mm/s. The axis passing frequency (APF) at the measuring points increases significantly and there appears new characteristic frequency of 3APF and 4APF. The numerical simulation results show that the front wear-ring abrasion affects the flow at the inlet of the front chamber of the pump and impeller passage. And the back wear-ring abrasion has obvious effect on the flow in the back chamber of the pump and impeller passage, while the multi-malfunction of the front wear-ring abrasion and back wear-ring abrasion has the most obvious effect on the flow velocity and flow stability inside pump. The pressure pulsation at Blade Passing Frequency (BPF) of the three schemes all decrease with the increase of the clearance.

In order to guarantee the passivity of a kind of conservative system, the port Hamiltonian framework combined with a new energy tank is proposed in this paper. A time-varying impedance controller is designed based on this new framework. The time-varying impedance control method is an extension of conventional impedance control and overcomes the singularity problem that existed in the traditional form of energy tank. The validity of the controller designed in this paper is shown by numerical examples. The simulation results show that the proposed controller can not only eliminate the singularity problem but can also improve the control performance.

Through the research on the change of system input and output energy in time-varying speed cutting, the influence of variable-speed waveforms on vibration suppression effect in time-varying speed cutting is quantitatively analyzed in this paper. A conclusion can be drawn that sine wave speed variation is better than triangle wave speed variation in vibration suppression.

A novel iterative learning controller for linear time-varying systems is developed. The learning law is derived on the basis of a quadratic criterion. This control scheme does not include package information. The advantage of the proposed learning law is that the convergence is guaranteed without the need for empirical choice of parameters. Furthermore, the tracking error on the final iteration will be a class K function of the bounds on the uncertainties. Finally, simulation results reveal that the proposed control has a good setpoint tracking performance.

In this study, a non-linear finite element model for a simplified single-bolted joint structure model is built. Static analysis on the structure under different shear force and pretension effect is done, and the non-linear contact behavior is analyzed. Through comparing datum, it is found that interface area of each bolted joint region can be described an annular region around bolt hole, whose outer radius has increased by 85% compared with radius of bolt hole. Also, the frequency responses of the multi-bolted joint structure under sinusoidal excitation are investigated. Simulation results show that the resonance regions basically remain unchanged in different pretension effect and the largest amplitude will increase with the increasing preloads. Finally, the vibration experiments are conducted. Interface nonlinear affect dynamic stiffness considerably. The test results illustrate that dynamic behaviors of bolted joint agree with the simulation results and the proposed non-linear contact model was reasonable.

In this paper, a method to implement the surface elevation at the offshore boundary during storm conditions is presented in the intra-wave period wave model. At storm condition, the offshore incident significant wave height is time varying. In the case of time varying incident wave height, the JONSWAP energy spectrum can be manipulated as follows: H1/32s(f). s(f) is the energy density function for a unit wave height. During a storm event not only the offshore boundary significant wave heights but also the peak frequency varies. If we choose a mean peak frequency during a storm event, s(f) can be calculated for the mean peak frequency for the storm event. The amplitudes of the component waves for the random signals are calculated from the unit energy density function s(f), and the phase angle of the component wave, So we can numerically generate surface elevation time series for the time varying offshore wave heights. The method was verified in the intra-wave period wave model using field measurements at Sea Palling site Norfolk UK.

The transport system is a nonlinear, time-varying, lagging large-scale systems. Fuzzy control does not need to build a precise mathematical model, can be easily integrated people's thinking and experience, and is suitable for applications in the traffic signal control system. Here,a self-adaptive optimal algorithm was used to improve the traditional fuzzy controller. Simulation results show that the improved system has higher availability.
