A novel and very simple chloroplastmimic photovoltaic scheme, in which water is photolyzed by a new photocatalyst fabricated by depositing a thin film of TiO2 on an array of carbon nanotubes (CNT), has been made. Multiple reflections within the photocatalyst extend the optical response from the ultraviolet range to the full visible range. Hydrogen ions with various concentrations are separated by an artificial thylakoid membrane, resulting in a transmembrane chemiosmotic potential, generating ion-diffusion-induced electricity. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed simple chloroplastmimic photovoltaics can produce a photocurrent directly from visible light.

The photocatalytic properties of TiO2 compound in anatase phase can be activated under visible light by nitrogen modification and its ability can be increased by generated porous structure using polietilen glikol (PEG) on TiO2 thin film surface. The porous N/TiO2 thin films were prepared by heating aqueous peroxotitanate thin films by addition of polietilen glikol (PEG) deposited uniformly on superhydrophilic uncoated glass at 500 oC for 1 h. The result of X-ray diffraction (XRD) confirmed the resence of only anatase phase for all samples. The UV-Vis spectroscopy showed the synthesized porous N/TiO2 thin films exhibit the absorption in the visible range (400-500 nm). Photocatalytic activity of porous N/ TiO2 thin films were evaluated by using fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) to determine the ability of this photocatalyst for stearic acid degradation under visible light irradiation. The result showed that N/TiO2/PEG-2.1 thin film degraded the stearic acid was about 87,86%, which was 1,12 times higher than that of N-doped TiO2 and 9,9 times higher than that of undoped TiO2 thin film.

The existence of a growing myopia pandemic is an unquestionable fact for health authorities around the world. Different possible causes have been put forward over the years, such as a possible genetic origin, the current excess of children’s close-up work compared to previous stages in history, insufficient natural light, or a multifactorial cause. Scientists are looking for different possible solutions to alleviate it, such as a reduction of time or a greater distance for children’s work, the use of drugs, optometric correction methods, surgical procedures, and spending more time outdoors. There is a growing number of articles suggesting insufficient natural light as a possible cause of the increasing levels of childhood myopia around the globe. Technological progress in the world of lighting is making it possible to have more monochromatic LED emission peaks, and because of this, it is possible to create spectral distributions of visible light that increasingly resemble natural light in the visible range. The possibility of creating indoor luminaires that emit throughout the visible spectrum from purple to infrared can now be a reality that could offer a new avenue of research to fight this pandemic.

We demonstrate a facile and novel chemical precipitation strategy for the accurate coating of TiO2nanoparticles on the surface of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) to form CNT/TiO2nanohybrids, which only requires titanium sulfate and CNTs as starting materials and reacts in the alkaline solution at 60°C for 6 h. Using this process, the as-prepared hybrid structures preserved the good dispersity and uniformity of initial CNTs. Furthermore, the CNT/TiO2nanohybrids show a broad blue luminescence at 469 nm and exhibit significantly enhanced photocatalytic activity for the degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) under visible-light irradiation, which is about 1.5 times greater than that of commercial Degussa P25 TiO2nanoparticles. It is believed that this facile chemical precipitation strategy is scalable and its application can be extended to synthesize other CNT/oxide nanohybrids for various applications.
