Leader–Follower Consensus Control of Multiple Quadcopters Under Communication Delays

This paper develops a novel decentralized leader–follower consensus algorithm for multiple-quadcopter systems under uniform constant and asynchronous time-varying communication delays. The consensus problem is formulated as the stability analysis and static controller design problem of a delayed system by defining the consensus error dynamics. Lyapunov-based methods along with the linear matrix inequality (LMI) techniques are utilized to derive the sufficient conditions for the control gain design that ensure asymptotic consensusability in the constant delay case, and consensus with bounded errors in the time-varying delay case. Also the computational complexity of solving control gains can be significantly reduced by decomposing the sufficient conditions into a set of equivalent low-dimensional conditions under undirected communication topologies. Simulation results show that larger systems are generally more susceptible to communication delays, and systems are more robust to delays when more followers are directly connected to the leader.

This paper studies fuzzy controller design problem for a class of nonlinear switched distributed parameter systems (DPSs) subject to time-varying delay. Initially, the original nonlinear DPSs are accurately described by Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model in a local region. On the basis of parallel distributed compensation technique, mode-dependent fuzzy proportional and fuzzy proportional-spatial-derivative controllers are constructed, respectively. Subsequently, using single Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and some matrix inequality methods, sufficient conditions that guarantee the stability and dissipativity of the closed-loop systems are presented in the form of linear matrix inequalities, which allow the control gain matrices to be easily obtained. Finally, numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the validity of the designed controllers.

This paper investigates the exponential stability problem for a class of stochastic neural networks with leakage delay. By employing a suitable Lyapunov functional and stochastic stability theory technic, the sufficient conditions which make the stochastic neural networks system exponential mean square stable are proposed and proved. All results are expressed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Example and simulation are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This paper investigates nonfragile H∞ filter design for a class of continuous-time delayed Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems with interval time-varying delays. Filter parameters occur multiplicative gain variations according to the filter’s implementation, to handle this variations, a nonfragile H∞ filter is presented and a novel filtering error system is established. The nonfragile H∞ filter guarantees the filtering error system to be asymptotically stable and satisfies given H∞ performance index. By constructing a novel Lyapunov-Krasovskii function and using the linear matrix inequality (LMI), delay-dependent conditions are exploited to derive sufficient conditions for nonfragile designing H∞ filter. Using new matrix decoupling method to reduce the computational complexity, the filter parameters can be obtained by solving a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, numerical examples are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This paper utilizes nonlinear adaptive feedback controller to make the complex multilinks networks with perturbations and time-varying delays achieve the finite-time synchronization. By designing nonlinear controllers, we use suitable Lyapunov functions and sufficient conditions to guarantee the finite-time synchronization between the drive system and the response system in terms of adaptive control. Several novel and useful finite-time synchronization criteria are accurately derived based on linear matrix inequality, Kronecker product, inequality analytical technique, and finite-time stability theory. Finally, numerical examples are given to demonstrate the validity and the effectiveness of our theoretical results.

This paper investigates robust exponential stability for discrete-time recurrent neural networks with both time-varying delay (0 ≤ τm ≤ τ(k) ≤ τM) and distributed one. Through partitioning delay intervals [0,τm] and [τm,τM], respectively, and choosing an augmented Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, the delay-dependent sufficient conditions are obtained by using free-weighting matrix and convex combination methods. These criteria are presented in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) and their feasibility can be easily checked by resorting to LMI in Matlab Toolbox in Ref. 1. The activation functions are not required to be differentiable or strictly monotonic, which generalizes those earlier forms. As an extension, we further consider the robust stability of discrete-time delayed Cohen-Grossberg neural networks. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed results is further illustrated by three numerical examples in comparison with the reported ones.

In this paper, we investigate the problem of robust H∞ filter design for a class of discrete-time nonlinear systems. The systems under consider involves time-varying delays and parameters uncertainties. The main objective is to design a linear full-order filter to ensure that the resulting filtering error system is asymptotically stable with a prescribed H∞ performance level. By constructing an appropriate Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, some novel sufficient conditions are established to guarantee the filter error dynamics system is robust asymptotically stable with H∞ performance γ , and the H∞ filter is designed in term of linear matrix inequalities. Finally, a numerical example is provided to illustrate the efficiency of proposed method.

This paper investigates the problem of robust exponential stability for uncertain linear-parameter dependent (LPD) discrete-time system with delay. The delay is of an interval type, which means that both lower and upper bounds for the time-varying delay are available. The uncertainty under consideration is norm-bounded uncertainty. Based on combination of the linear matrix inequality (LMI) technique and the use of suitable Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, new sufficient conditions for the robust exponential stability are obtained in terms of LMI. Numerical examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness and less conservativeness of the proposed methods.

H∞control problem for nonlinear system with time-varying delay is considered by using a set of improved Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals including some integral terms, and a matrix-based on quadratic convex, combined with Wirtinger's inequalities and some useful integral inequality.H∞controller is designed via memoryless state feedback control and new sufficient conditions for the existence of theH∞state feedback for the system are given in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the obtained result.

By using dynamic output feedback consensus protocols, consensus analysis, and design, problems for swarm systems with external disturbances and time-varying delays are dealt with. First, two subspaces, namely, a consensus subspace and a complement consensus subspace, are defined. Based on the state projection onto the two subspaces, L2-consensus and L2-consensualization problems are introduced. Then, a necessary and sufficient condition for consensus is presented and an explicit expression of the consensus function is given. Especially, it is shown that the time-varying delay does not influence the consensus function. Finally, in terms of linear matrix inequalities, sufficient conditions for L2-consensus and L2-consensualization are presented, respectively, which possess less calculation complexity, since they are independent of the number of agents, and numerical simulations are shown to demonstrate theoretical results.

The problem of robust exponential stabilization for dynamical nonlinear systems with uncertainties and time-varying delay is considered in the paper. By constructing the proposed Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional approach, continuous state feedback controllers are put forward, and the criteria which guarantee the exponential stabilization of the nonlinear systems with uncertainties and time-varying delay are established in terms of solutions to the standard Riccati differential equations. Furthermore, based on the Lyapunov method and the linear matrix inequality approach, the sufficient conditions of exponential stability for a class of uncertain systems with time-varying delays and nonlinear perturbations are derived. Finally, two numerical examples are given to demonstrate the validity of the results.
