Experimental Study on Construction of a Newly Supersonic Oven With Liquid Lithium

The seeded supersonic oven originally used to produce sodium clusters was incapable for lithium clusters that should be produced at higher temperatures. Ultimately, we designed a new compact stainless steel (SS) oven with thicker walls and constructed two molybdenum alloy (TZM) heaters for this new oven. The newly designed SS oven and heaters have been tested with liquid lithium, and the tested results demonstrated they can successfully work at ∼1000 °C, and a deposition layer of lithium was observed.

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanocrystals of different shape were successfully synthesized in a new microemulsion system through a solvothermal process. The TiO2nanocrystals were prepared from the reaction of tetrabutyl titanate (TBT),H2O, and oleic acid (OA), which were used as solvent and surfactant at 300∘Cand 240∘Cin a stainless steel autoclave. The sphere, polygon, and rhombus-shaped nanocrystals have been prepared at 300∘Cand the dot- and- rod shaped nanocrystals have been synthesized at 240∘C. The effect of the reaction time on the shape and size of TiO2nanocrystals in this method was studied in the present paper. The size distribution of TiO2nanocrystals prepared at 300∘Cfor different hours is also studied. In addition, an attempt to describe the mechanism of shape change of TiO2nanocrystals was presented in this paper.

This paper is focused on possibilities of acoustic emission (AE) signal detection from material surface through waveguide for commonly used piezoelectric sensors. It also considers the experimental study of enhanced detection of occurrence of signal guided through waveguide corpus, its changes and deformities. Aim of this work is verification of several waveguide setup possibilities for maximization of AE signal detection in practice. For this purpose, multiple waveguide setups were manufactured from stainless steel and aluminium alloy. Hsu‑Nielson pen test was utilized for signal actuation. Results demonstrate the differences between measured AE signal with and without employment of waveguide (changes in signal course through different materials and shapes), as well as magnitude of signal dampening and amplification necessary for veritable signal interpretation. Measurements were conducted on agglomerated composite of medium density fibreboard (MDF).
