We report a facile fabrication of a high-performance supercapacitor (SC) using a flexible cellulose-based composite film of polyaniline (PANI), reduced graphene oxide (RGO), and silver nanowires (AgNWs). The flexibility, high capacitive behavior, cyclic stability, and enhanced rate capability of the entire device make it a good candidate for flexible and wearable SCs. Our results demonstrate that a capacitance as high as 73.4 F/g (1.6 F/cm2) at a discharge rate of 1.1 A/g is achieved. In addition, the SC shows a power density up to 468.8 W/kg and an energy density up to 5.1 Wh/kg. The flexibility of the composite film is owing to the binding effect of cellulose fibers as well as AgNWs. The superb electrochemical performance of the device is found to be mainly attributed to the synergistic effect between PANI/RGO/AgNWs ternary in a cushiony cellulose scaffold and porous structure of the composite.

AbstractMany hybrid electrodes for supercapacitors (SCs) are a reckless combination without proper structural design that keeps them from fulfilling their potential. Herein, we design a reduced graphene oxide/poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)/polyaniline (RGO/PEDOT/PANI) hybrid with hierarchical and porous structure for high-performance SCs, where components fully harness their advantages, forming an interconnected and conductive framework with substantial reactive sites. Thus, this hybrid achieves a high capacitance of 535 F g−1 along with good rate capability and cyclability. The planar SC based on this hybrid deliver an energy density of 26.89 Wh kg−1 at a power density of 800 W kg−1. The linear SC developed via modifying a cotton yarn with the hybrid exhibits good flexibility and structural stability, which operates normally after arbitrary deformations. This work provides a beneficial reference for developing SCs.

A hierarchical composite based on the modified reduced graphene oxide with platinum-nickel decorated polyaniline nano-spheres (rGO/PANI@PtNi) was facilely prepared via microwave-assisted self-reduction for an application in nonenzymatic hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) detection. Compared to the pristine rGO, the composite exhibited a much tougher surface due to the stacking of conductive PANI nano-spheres on rGO sheets, leading to good dispersion of PtNi nanoparticles and a large active area. Furthermore, the multi-valance Ni2+/3+ in the PtNi particles effectively promoted the catalytic property of Pt sites and facilitated a superior electrochemical performance of PtNi alloy than that of neat Pt. Owing to the synergistic effect of the improved electrical conductivity and the promoted electrocatalytical property, the modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) with rGO/PANI@PtNi nanocomposite displayed an outstanding electrochemical sensitivity towards H2O2 with a fast response time (<2 s), a wide linear range (0.1–126.4 mM), a low detection limit (0.5 µM), as well as a long-life stability for one week without obvious degradation. This novel strategy opens a novel and promising approach to design high performance sensors for H2O2 detection.
