The condition of flange wrinkling in conventional spinning of cones is established by modifying the theory of instability in deep-drawing of cups. Experiments conducted in order to test the theoretical results show that agreement exists between theory and experiments.

A brief review is given of the status of both theory and experiments of nucleation phenomena at first-order wetting transitions, focusing on the early stages of the decay of metastable thin and thick wetting films. Generally, the decay of metastable films is initiated by the formation of critical nuclei, which for a metastable thin film are droplets on the wall of the system, and holes in the wetting layer for a metastable thick film. The shapes of critical droplets and critical holes are characterized in the various regions of the wetting phase diagram. The nucleation rate of critical nuclei is determined, which is a measure of the lifetime of the metastable states. The connection of the theoretical results with recent experiments on nucleated wetting layers is discussed. An outlook on open problems concludes the review.

In this paper, the influence of grain size and blank hold force on micro deep drawing stress and displacement are studied by self-made device. The results show that drawing stress decreases and elongation rate increases with the increase of grain size, the concentrated force area of cylinder-shaped part is transferred from the area punch fillet to die fillet area. Twin grain ratio and twinning degree near the punch fillet are increasing. Twin grain distribution becomes uneven with the increase of grain size. In micro deep drawing, the displacement increases with the increase of blank hold force, meanwhile, forming stress almost remains constant. The flange wrinkling can be inhibited.
