A multiparameter perturbation approach for the solution of a class of differential equations is developed and is applied to the study of the vibration of rectangular plates under arbitrary in-plane loading fields describable by linear combinations of two or more independent loading parameters. The solution takes the form of a power series involving all the independent loading parameters and is valid over whole ranges of those parameters. Numerical results for fully clamped plates subject to uniform, combined, direct, and shear in-plane loads are presented in order to demonstrate the utility of the approach.

A new two-step modified explicit hybrid method with parameters depending on the step-size is constructed. This method is derived using the coefficients from a sixth-order explicit hybrid method with extended interval of absolute stability and then imposed each stage of the modified formula to exactly integrate the differential equations with solutions that can be expressed as linear combinations of sinwx and coswx, where w is the known frequency. Numerical results show the advantage of the new method for solving oscillatory problems.

AbstractThis paper is devoted to introduce a numerical treatment using the generalized Adams-Bashforth-Moulton method for some of the variable-order fractional modeling dynamics problems, such as Riccati and Logistic differential equations. The fractional derivative is described in Caputo variable-order fractional sense. The obtained numerical results of the proposed models show the simplicity and efficiency of the proposed method. Moreover, the convergence order of the method is also estimated numerically.

Abstract This paper presents an exact solution in terms of infinite series of the problem of buckling by compressive forces in one direction of a rectangular plate with built-in edges (zero slope, zero displacement in the direction normal to the plane of the plate). The buckling load is calculated for 14 ratios of length to width, ranging in steps of 0.25 from 0.75 to 4. On the basis of convergence, as the number of terms used in the infinite series is increased, it is estimated that the possible error in the numerical results presented is of the order of 0.1 per cent. A comparison is given with the work of other authors.

Abstract Exact elasticity solutions for stresses and deflections (displacements) in curved beams and rings of varying thicknesses are developed using polar elasticity and state of plane stress. Basic forms of differential equations of equilibrium, stress functions, and differential equations of compatibility are given. They are solved to develop expressions for radial, tangential, and shearing stresses for moment, force, and combined loadings. Neutral axis location for each type of loading is determined. Expressions for displacements are developed utilizing strain-displacement relationships of polar elasticity satisfying boundary conditions on displacements. In case of full rings stresses are as in curved beams with properly defined moment loading, but displacements differ satisfying different boundary conditions. The developments for constant thicknesses are used to develop solutions for curved beams and rings with T-sections. Comparative numerical results are given.

In this paper, Volterra Integro differential equations are solved using the Adomian decomposition method. The solutions are obtained in form of infinite series and compared to Runge-Kutta4 algorithm. The technique is described and illustrated with examples; numerical results are also presented graphically. The software used in this study is mathematica10.

To consider the deformation of thin rectangular plate under temperature. In this paper, the wavelet multi-scale method was used to solve the thin plate governing differential equations with four different initial or boundary conditions. An operational matrix of integration based on the wavelet was established and the procedure for applying the matrix to solve the differential equations was formulated, and got the deflection of thin rectangular plates under temperature. The result provides a theoretical reference for solving thin rectangular plate deflection in thermal environment using multi-scale approach.

SummaryThe paper presents a solution of the non-linear problem of the deformation of slender rectangular plates which are stiffened along their edges by elastically compressible stiffeners flexible in the plane of the plate. The webplate is assumed to be simply-supported along its contour. Numerical results showing the effect of flexural and normal rigidity of stiffeners are given for a square webplate loaded by shear and compression.
