This paper describes the experimental study carried out on a Permanent Magnet Brushless DC (PMBLDC) motor coupled to a pump load powered by a Photo Voltaic (PV) Array for a Water Pumping System. A simple low cost controller has been designed and developed without any current and position sensors. This drastically reduces the over all cost of the drive system. This controller is used to test the dynamic behavior of the PMBLDC motor drive system. The mathematical model of the system is developed with a view to carry out a comparison between experimental and simulated response of the drive system. The necessary computer algorithm is developed to analyze the performance under different conditions of varying solar irradiance for a pump load. The developed state space equations are simulated to obtain the performance characteristics which are also verified by conducting suitable experiments on the developed system. The Z-source inverter has overcome the limitation of the conventional voltage source inverter and current source inverter and provides a new option for motor drive system. The Z-source inverter has the unique ability of boosting the voltage of the dc source, which has advantages in the motor drive system for electric vehicles where the voltage of the onboard battery is usually lower. Firstly, this paper analyses the speed characteristic of permanent magnet brushless dc motor. Then operation principles and the control method are described and an effective and convenient strategy for generating PWM pluses with shoot-through states based on TMS320F2812 DSP is introduced. At last, the results of this experiment are presented and verify the correctness of the model.

In view of the defects of the electric car driver motor technology, considering actual needs of the car running, relaxing the electrical power density and the limitation of the moment of inertia etc, focusing on the reliability, speed range and high efficient operation area of the motor, based on the analysis of permanent magnet brushless dc motor operation principle, this paper designed a low cost, high intelligent electric car permanent magnet brushless dc motor controller. Through the analysis, simulation, experiment and comparison, the results show that the control system has good dynamic response and steady state properties.

This paper presents the optimal operation of a photovoltaic pumping system. The operation of a permanent magnet brushless DC motor driving a centrifugal pump is investigated. The motor is controlled through a hysteresis current loop and an outer speed loop with a PI type controller. The proportional and integral gains are set to their optimal values. In order to optimise the overall system efficiency, a Maximum power point tracker is also used. Simulation is carried out by formulating the mathematical model for the photovoltaic source, MPPT, motor and pump load. System performances are investigated under different levels of solar insolation. The effectiveness of the proposed controller is also demonstrated.
