The article considers general problems of implementing the enterprise risk management procedure. One of the ways to solve the problems arising when meeting Russian state standard ISO 9001-2015 requirements concerning risk-oriented thinking is presented. A risk assessment control model aimed at coordinating all kinds of the enterprise departments activities, forming a clear algorithm of risk management procedure implementation and attracting a greater number of employees towards this activity is offered.

This study seeks to determine the concurrent and predictive validity of a dual risk assessment protocol. It combines the risk of persistence in intimate partner violence (IPV) measured via the Domestic Violence Screening Instrument–Revised (DVSI-R) with supplemental items from the Danger Risk Assessment (DRA) bearing on the risk of potential lethality. We further test whether this assessment protocol reproduces disparities by race and ethnicity found in the larger population. Using a sample of 4,665 IPV male defendants with a female victim, analyses support both types of criterion validity. The DRA risk score is associated with felony charges, incarceration at the initial arrest, and the frequency of subsequent dangerous behavior. Results also suggest minimal predictive bias or disparate impact by race and ethnicity. Incorporating supplemental items bearing on potential lethality risk adds important information concerning the risk management strategies of those involved in IPV.

At all stages of the production of microbiological nutrient media (MNM), the manufacturer, and in particular, the microbiological laboratories that manufacture the media on site, face many operational risks. The presence of such risks, in almost every critical point of production and further operation of the MNM, is due to the presence of common basic requirements for all MNM, which must be taken into account and respected during their development and preparation; as well as the complexity and laboriousness of the very process of manufacturing high-quality differential-diagnostic and other nutrient media, requiring the availability of all the components necessary for preparing these media, equipment, sterile conditions and qualified personnel. In this regard, there is a need to search for effective methods to identify and prevent undesirable situations associated with the production and use of MNM. The aim of this work was to adapt the risk assessment methodology based on the expert method for analyzing the types and consequences of FMEA failures (Failure Mode Effect Analysis) set out in GOST R ISO 31010-2011 for the needs of microbiological laboratories, including those for veterinary and sanitary expertise, producing microbiological nutrient environments and using them. As part of this work, a comparative analysis of risk assessment methods was carried out in order to select the optimal one; adaptation of the QMS principle - risk-oriented thinking and the FMEA method for risk assessment in the implementation of MNM manufacturing processes in a microbiological laboratory (for example, solid agar media); risk assessment protocol forms were developed; calculations of a quantitative assessment of risk levels were carried out in order to determine the need for preventive actions and their implementation in order to minimize the negative consequences of risk in case of its implementation using the developed protocols. The results showed that this technique can be successfully implemented and used in the claimed area.

Сегодня главными угрозами для существования всего человечества являются нарастание интенсивности, в том числе широкомасштабные природные и техногенные катастрофы и международный терроризм (МТ). Согласно прогнозам эта негативная тенденция со временем усилится в 21 веке. И к ним добавился очень опасный вирус COVID-19. Здесь мы представляем результаты наших МТ-исследований по результатам участия в международных тематических мероприятиях, таких как международные научные мероприятия НАТО и Международного научно-технического центра (МНТЦ), в том числе некоторые фрагменты моей работы в качестве члена Международного Научный комитет Международной конференции по моделированию и симуляции хаоса (CHAOS) и руководитель его специальной сессии: «Моделирование оценки рисков для ядерных, экологических и техногенных источников». Особое внимание уделяется организации и проведению подобных мероприятий, направленных на повышение их эффективности и проведения. Предоставляется информация о новых методах борьбы с МТ и предотвращения её возможных действий. Обсуждаются вопросы использования новых технологий, посвященных сегодняшней борьбе с COVID-19 и группировкам МТ Талибан в Афганистане. Today the main great treats for existence of all humanity are intensity increasing and including wide scale natural and manmade catastrophes and international terrorism (IT). According to forecasts, this negative trend will increase over time in the 21st century. And very dangerous COVID-19 was added to them. Here we present the results of our IT researches on the results of participation in international thematic events, such as the international scientific events of NATO and the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC), including some fragments of my work as the member of the International Scientific Committee of Chaotic Modeling and Simulation International Conference (CHAOS) and chief of its Special Session: “Modeling risk assessment for nuclear, environment and manmade sources”. The special attention is paid to the organization and conduct of such events aimed at increasing their effectiveness and implementation. Information is provided on new methods of combating IT and preventing its possible acts. Using of new technologies, devoted to today struggle against COVID-19 and IT Taliban groups in Afghanistan are under discussion.

Since the human genome was decoded more than 15 years ago, there has been a huge leap forward in the development of genomic and post-genomic technologies. Personalized medicine is engaged in implementing these technologies in clinical practice by developing new methods for risk assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases taking into account individual features of the patient. Significant progress has been achieved in decoding genetic bases of chronic noninfectious diseases; new markers for the risk of complications and targets for effects of drugs are being searched for. This review highlights promising directions in the development of personalized medicine, the problems facing modern scientists, and possible ways to solve them

This chapter introduces a new approach to the risk assessment for violent extremism that is focused on cyber-related behaviour and content. The Violent Extremist Risk Assessment (VERA-2) protocol, used internationally, is augmented by an optional cyber-focused risk indicator protocol referred to as CYBERA. The risk indicators of CYBERA are elaborated and the application of CYBERA, conjointly with the VERA-2 risk assessment protocol, is described. The combined use of the two tools provides (1) a robust and cyber-focused risk assessment intended to provide early warning indicators of violent extremist action, (2) provides consistency and reliability in risk and threat assessments, (3) determines risk trajectories of individuals, and (4) assists intelligence and law enforcement analysts in their national security investigations. The tools are also relevant for use by psychologists, psychiatrists, communication analysts and provide relevant information that supports Terrorism Prevention Programs (TPP) and countering violent extremism (CVE) initiatives.

Purpose The growing importance of risk management programmes and practices in different industries has given rise to a new risk management approach, i.e. enterprise risk management. The purpose of this paper is to better understand the necessity, benefit, approaches and methodologies of managing risks in healthcare. It compares and contrasts between the traditional and enterprise risk management approaches within the healthcare context. In addition, it introduces bow tie methodology, a prospective risk assessment tool proposed by the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management as a visual risk management tool used in enterprise risk management. Design/methodology/approach This is a critical review of published literature on the topics of governance, patient safety, risk management, enterprise risk management and bow tie, which aims to draw a link between them and find the benefits behind their adoption. Findings Enterprise risk management is a generic holistic approach that extends the benefits of risk management programme beyond the traditional insurable hazards and/or losses. In addition, the bow tie methodology is a barrier-based risk analysis and management tool used in enterprise risk management for critical events related to the relevant day-to-day operations. It is a visual risk assessment tool which is used in many higher reliability industries. Nevertheless, enterprise risk management and bow ties are reported with limited use in healthcare. Originality/value The paper suggests the applicability and usefulness of enterprise risk management to healthcare, and proposes the bow tie methodology as a proactive barrier-based risk management tool valid for enterprise risk management implementation in healthcare.
