The panicle branch, which is the key node for transport of photosynthesis products from source to sink, is vulnerable to many diseases caused by fungal pathogens, such as Magnaporthe oryzae, Cochliobolus miyabeanus. Among these diseases, rice blast is the most important one which causes devastating losses in many regions. In 2019 and 2020, panicle branch rot of rice with a symptom which could be mistaken with rice blast was observed in a paddy field, where is not traditional epidemical region of rice blast, in Fuyang, Zhejiang province. In 2020, similar symptom was also observed in Hubei and Anhui Province. In a paddy field in Fuyang, the symptom appeared on more than 30% investigated panicles. Diseased panicle exhibited brown to black lesions on primary or secondary branches as well as pedicels, however the grain and the neck of spike could not be infected which is the most obvious difference with rice blast. Obviously, the disease can’t destroy the entire function of branch and blank grain was rarely observed, so its damage is not comparable with neck blast. Normally, it caused incomplete grain filing commonly leading to 5% - 25% grain weight loss. During the booting stage of rice, local solar irradiation time and temperature were fewer and lower than common years which may be responsible for losses caused by this disease. After surface sterilized, lesion parts cut from infected branches from 25 panicle samples were cultured on 2% water agar at 28℃ for 24–28 h, and fungi were isolated and purified by mycelial tip transferring. Among 31 isolates, 26 showed similar cultural characters. The wool-like mycelia were luxuriant and grew rapidly on PDA spreading the whole 9 cm petri dish in less than a week at 28 ℃. The mycelia were white to ashen at beginning and gradually turned black from center of the plate after 5 days culture at 28 ℃. Hyphae were smooth, branched, septate, hyaline or pale brown. Conidia were single-celled, black, spherical to subspherical, and 10.2 to 14.6 × 12.2 to 15.7 μm (n=50) in dimension and born on tip of hyaline and ampulliform conidiophores. The fungus showed similar morphological characteristics with Nigrospora oryzae (1). ITS sequences of 6 representative strains of the fungus were amplified, sequenced with primer pair, ITS1/ITS4 (2), and submitted into GenBank with an accession number, MW228165. Phylogenetic analysis was conducted with sequences of reference strains (3). The result showed that the fungus obtained in this study was fallen into the same group with N.oryzae. In view of above both morphological and molecular analysis, the strains were finally identified as N. oryzae. Pathogenicity tests were conducted in triplicate with rice panicles in initial heading stage. Fifty panicles were wounded on branches with needles and inoculated by spreading the conidia suspension (10μl, 1 × 106 conidia ml-1) on the wounds. The panicles used as control were treated in same way with 10μl of sterile water. The inoculated and control plants were kept in dark, 25 ℃ and relative humidity of more than 85% for 24 h in culture chamber. Symptoms appeared on 44 of 50 inoculated panicles which were basically similar with those observed in paddy field, while negative controls remained symptomless. The fungi re-isolated from inoculated panicles were also confirmed as N. oryzae by both morphological and molecular analysis. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of N. oryzae causing panicle branch rot disease on Oryza sativa (rice). This disease not only cause yield losses and lower milling quality, but could also be mistaken as rice blast incurring unnecessary fungicides spray.

Keragaan morfologi dan kandungan antosianin padi beras merah (Oryza sativa L.) pada Kecamatan Munte dan Kecamatan Payung di Kabupaten Karo. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan informasi morfologi dan kandungan antosianin padi beras merah (Oryza sativa L.). Penelitian ini dimulai dari Juni 2017dan selesai pada Januari 2018 di kecamatan Munte dan Kecamatan Payung Kabupaten Karo.Metode survei deskriptif menggunakan panduan International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). Teknik penentuan lokasi secara sengaja dan pengamblan sampel secara kebetulan.Uji kandungan antosianin menggunakan metode analitik dengan menghomogenkan sampel. Hasil eksplorasi didapatkan 72 genotipe yang dibagi menjadi tiga lokasi lahan. Berdasaran uji kandungan antosianin didapatkan lahan A memiliki kandungan tertinggi yaitu 0,5 mg/100 g dan terendah yaitu lahan B 0,08 mg/100 g.

Experiments were carried out to assess some insecticide modules against major insect pests of rice. Each module consists of a basal application of carbofuran 3G @ 1 kg a.i ha-1 at 20 DAT and Rynaxypyr 20 SC @ 30 g a.i ha-1 at 45 DAT except untreated control. All modules differ with each other only in third treatment which was applied in 65 DAT. The third treatment includes: Imidacloprid 17.8 SL @ 27 g a.i ha-1, Pymetrozine 50 WG @ 150 g a.i ha-1, Triflumezopyrim 106 SC @ 27 g a.i ha-1, Buprofezin 25 SC @ 250 g a.i ha-1; Glamore (Imidacloprid 40+Ethiprole 40% w/w) 80 WG @ 100 g a.i. ha-1, Thiacloprid 24 SC @ 60 g a.i ha-1, Azadirachtin 0.03 EC @ 8 g a.i ha-1, Dinotefuran 20 SG@ 40 g a.i ha-1 and untreated control. All the treated plots recorded significantly lower percent of dead heart, white ear- head caused by stem borer and silver shoot caused by gall midge. Module with Pymetrozine 50 WG @ 150 g a.i ha-1 treated plot recorded significantly higher per cent reduction of plant hoppers (>80% over untreated control) and produced higher grain yield (50.75 qha-1) than the other modules. Among the different treated modules the maximum number of spiders was found in Azadirachtin 0.03 EC @ 8 g a.i ha-1 treated module plot followed by other treatments.

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh aplikasi abu sekam terhadap kandungan prolin dan silikat daun serta kualitas hasil yaitu protein dan amilosa biji padi gogo dan hubungan korelasi antar keempat komponen tersebut pada kondisi pertanaman 80 persen kapasitas lapang pada skala pot. Penelitian dilakukan di polibag dalam screen house Fakultas Pertanian Unsoed dengan menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok pola faktorial dengan faktor varietas (Situ patenggang, Limboto, Towuti, Batutegi dan Aek sibundong) dan faktor abu sekam (0, 2, 4, 6 t/ha), diulang tiga kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pemberian abu sekam dosis 2−6 t/ha mampu meningkatkan kandungan silikat daun antara 18,49−29,43% dan menurunkan kandungan amilosa biji pada lima varietas sekitar 4,19−6,92%. Pemberian abu sekam dosis 2−6 t/ha mampu meningkatkan kandungan prolin daun antara 27,56−70,63% dan protein biji antara 2,35−16,71%. Antarvarietas menunjukan bahwa kandungan prolin tertinggi dihasilkan oleh varietas Batu tegi 18,58 persen dan protein biji pada varietas Situ patenggang 9,55%. Terdapat korelasi antar karakter fisiologis yaitu antara silikat-prolin (0,62) dan kandungan protein-amilosa biji (-0,78).

THE AIM: to evaluate the effect of allelic variations in the hemostatic system genes on the development and course of lupus nephritis. PATIENTS AND METHODS. The study analyzed 100 patients with SLE Caucasians. 80 women and 20 men aged 16 to 73 years (mean age 37, ± 14 years). The duration of observation was for 73 patients over 5 years, for 18 – from 1 year to 5 years and for 9 – less than 1 year A rise in the level of creatinine in the blood above or equal to 2 mg / dl was considered a significant sign of impaired renal function. RESULTS. Among the patients included in the study, kidney damage was detected in 61 people (61%). In 33 of them (54.1%), a variant of renal pathology was observed according to the type of rapidly progressive lupus nephritis (BPVN). In patients with BH, mutations in the MTHFR (C677T) gene were statistically significantly more frequent (p = 0.033). The OR for the mutant genotype is 6.146 with 95% CI from 1.692 to 22.326. In patients with PWHD, mutations in the MTHFR (C677T) gene were statistically significantly more frequent (p = 0.031). The OR for the mutant genotype is 1.625 with 95% CI from 1.034 to 4.771. The five-year renal survival in carriers of the mutant allele of the MTHFR gene (C677T) is statistically significantly lower (72.8%) than in patients without this mutation (81.9%) (p = 0.027). Ten-year renal survival in carriers of the mutant allele of the MTHFR gene (C677T) is statistically significantly less (55.6%) than in patients without this mutation (70.5%) (p = 0.016). In patients with BH, mutations in the PAI-1 gene (4G / 5G 675) were statistically significantly more frequent (p = 0.046). OR for mutant genotype – 1.766 with 95% CI from 1.061 to 4.758. CONCLUSION. The mutant alleles of the MTHFR (C677T) and PAI-1 (4G / 5G 675) genes are likely to be associated with the development of BH. Polymorphism of the MTHFR gene (C677T) is associated with an unfavorable course of HH.

Salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan produksi dan mutu benih di lahan salin yaitu melalui penggunaan metode ratun dengan penambahan bakteri sintetik Synechoccocus sp. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui produksi dan mutu benih padi ratun yang tercekam salinitas dengan penambahan bakteri sintetik Synechoccocus sp. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli - Desember 2015 di Desa Suco, Kecamatan Mumbul Sari Jember dan Laboratorium Teknologi Benih Politeknik Negeri Jember. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok Faktorial (RAK) dengan 2 faktor dan 3 ulangan. Faktor pertama adalah cekaman Salinitas (S) yang terdiri dari 5 taraf, S1 = tanpa cekaman (kontrol), S2 = cekaman salinitas 1000 ppm, S3 = cekaman salinitas 2000 ppm, S4 = cekaman salinitas 3000 ppm, S5 = cekaman salinitas 4000 ppm. Faktor kedua inokulasi bakteri sintetik Synechoccocus sp. (B), yang terdiri dari 2 taraf, B1 = tanpa inokulasi bakteri (kontrol), B2 = Inokulasi sintetik Synechoccocus sp. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji F (ANOVA) dan dilanjutkan dengan perhitungan Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT). Hasil penelitian menunjukan perlakuan salinitas 1000 ppm (S2) menghasilkan jumlah anakan ratun produktif tertinggi yaitu 19,33 anakan. Cl- mempunyai fungsi utama dalam reaksi fotosintesis sehingga cekaman salintas pada perlakuan 1000 ppm (S2) dapat ditoleran oleh tanaman padi varietas Ciherang pada fase vegetatif. Pemberian Bakteri (B) Synechococcus sp. mampu menghasilkan tunas ratun tertinggi pada fase vegetatif yaitu 40,10 cm. Interaksi dari dua perlakuan menunjukan hasil yang nyata pada parameter jumlah gabah bernas yaitu cekaman salinitas 4000 ppm dengan inokulasi bakteri (B2S5) menghasilkan gabah bernas yang paling tinggi sebesar 99,06 butir. Inokulasi tanaman dengan Synechococcus sp. mampu meningkatkan kandungan nitrogen dan kandungan klorofil dalam jaringan tanaman. Interaksi antara cekaman salinitas 1000 ppm dengan inokulasi bakteri (B2S2) menghasilkan produksi per Ha yang paling tinggi yaitu 1,389 ton dan potensi produksi per Ha tertinggi yaitu 1.66 ton/ha.
