This research aimed at designing and improving the web-based integrated peer and self- assessment. WesPASS (web-based peer-assessment system), developed in this research, allows students to assess their own or their peers’ performance and project assignments and to report about the result of these assessments so that they correct their assignments. This study employed design-based research. The participants included 102 fourth grade primary school students and their 4 teachers from 2 state and 2 private primary schools in Ankara, Kecioren (Turkey) who employed the system and were engaged in a questionnaire survey to assess its quality. The findings were analyzed through quantitative data analysis. The findings revealed that the system can be used by elementary school students for peer and self-assessment system. The participants stated that WesPASS is simple and user-friendly, and it accelerates the assessment process by employing information technology and allows to share opinions

CSIEC (Computer Simulation in Educational Communication), is not only an intelligent web-based human-computer dialogue system with natural language for English instruction, but also a learning assessment system for learners and teachers. Its multiple functions—including grammar-based gap filling exercises, scenario show, free chatting and chatting on a given topic—can satisfy the various requirements for students with different backgrounds and learning abilities. After a brief explanation of the conception of our dialogue system, as well as a survey of related works, we will illustrate the system structure, and describe its pedagogical functions with the underlying AI techniques in detail such as NLP and rule-based reasoning. We will summarize the free Internet usage within a six month period and its integration into English classes in universities and middle schools. The evaluation findings about the class integration show that the chatting function has been improved and frequently utilized by the users, and the application of the CSIEC system on English instruction can motivate the learners to practice English and enhance their learning process. Finally, we will conclude with potential improvements.

In the world of information technology has changed the lifestyle in the aspect of our lives especially in the educational world. E-Raport is an academic information system used to input web-based student value data. The current value data input system is a benchmark for the creation of quality output and able to compete with other schools. One of the benchmarks that can be the competitiveness for other schools is the result of student learning assessments that are handled by each class. Problems that occur in the input of the value of Raport at SDN Sukanagara is currently still a manual that is the value of Raport recorded in the book Raport, so it takes a long time and a lot of energy needed. Research has the purpose of designing a value information system that facilitates the checking, recording and reporting of the computerized value of the students. Computerized Raport value reports can minimize errors in student data processing. This WEB based online raport is very easy data information and can be accessed anytime and anywhere, the system design works to insert and save value Report data and attendance and display info from school. The system uses data collection methods such as interviews, library studies, and system design, which are context diagrams, and prototypes. The information system of online Raport SDN Sukanagara is expected to be able to bring positive impact to the educational world, especially for SDN Sukanagara in the development of information technology applied in the world of education.

Recent evidence of the adoption of technologically mediated systems of knowledge management as part of the trend to accountability in the Institutions of Higher Education around the world has been widely disseminated in World Bank and UNESCO reports, and the effects of assessment driven accountability on preparation programs extensively debated in scholarly communities. Less scholarly attention has been paid to the institutional effects of the technology enhanced performance assessment evidentiary demands on university programs undergoing review by national accrediting bodies. The lack of scholarly attention is addressed by presenting a case study examining the institutional dynamics of accreditation review experienced by faculty in one department that offered graduate programs leading to certification for education leaders. Drawing from institutional analysis (Scott, 2008a, 2008b) a conceptual framework is established in a discussion of conditions of enactment of the regulative, normative and cognitive facets of the institutional dynamics evident in the implementation ecology of accountability systems. The case study analysis outlines four phases of development of the essential elements of a web-based assessment system, and describes the questions raised by faculty about performance evidence, the assessment of that evidence, and the nature of measures of program outcome effectiveness. Classic theories of organizations fail to fully explain the concerns and questions that were raised by faculty. In contrast, Engeström’s (1999, 2001, 2008) theory of expansive learning grounded in Cultural Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) provides insights into faculty responses to questions raised by the criteria for program review established by the accrediting body. Artifacts of expansive learning evident in the development of a performance assessment system can be viewed as reflecting institutionalization of regulative, normative, and cognitive dimensions of the emergent evaluative state of leadership preparation around the world. Implications are suggested for understanding the development of information technology (IT) enhanced knowledge management systems (KMS).

Professional registration (P.Eng.) applicants in B.C. must use the Engineers & Geoscientists BC web-based Competency Experience Reporting System (CERS) to have their work experience evaluated. CERS measures competencies – measures of the ability to perform the tasks and roles of an occupational category to standards expected and recognized by employers and the community at large – in seven competency categories, each of which can be related to the twelve CEAB graduate attributes.As part of a university-level course in engineering professionalism, students were given an assignment to use CERS to conduct a self-evaluation and make recommendations for their own future professional development.To measure the perceived effectiveness of the assignment, students completed three identical questionnaires: one before the topic was introduced, one after a guest speaker presentation on the topic, and one after submitting the assignment. The questionnaire measured each student’s degree of knowledge or understanding of ten different aspects of professional registration and professional development. The results indicated a progressive increase in agreement between the first, second and third questionnaire for all ten questions, with the greatest increases relating to registration procedures and students’ identification of shortcomings of their own experience.Usage of the competency assessment system by regulators is being expanded in Canada, which potentially provides the opportunity to conduct similar student assignments within other engineering programs.

The World Wide Web is an important channel of information exchange in many domains, including the medical one. The ever increasing amount of freely available healthcare-related information generates, on the one hand, excellent conditions for self-education of patients as well as physicians, but on the other hand, entails substantial risks if such information is trusted irrespective of low competence or even bad intentions of its authors. This is why medical Web site certification, also called quality labeling, by renowned authorities is of high importance. In this respect, it recently became obvious that the labelling process could benefit from employment of Web mining and information extraction techniques, in combination with flexible methods of Web-based information management developed within the Semantic Web initiative. Achieving such synergy is the central issue in the MedIEQ project. The AQUA (Assisting Quality Assessment) system, developed within the MedIEQ project, aims to provide the infrastructure and the means to organize and support various aspects of the daily work of labelling experts.
