The objective of the study is to empirically examine the various components of subjective well-being (SWB) and its role in the association between personality and contextual performance (CP). To validate the proposed model, Indian executives from various organizations were surveyed with a survey method. The sample response from 809 respondents has been analysed with the assistance of the partial least squares (PLS) structural equation modelling (SEM) approach. The results from the study establish SWB as a mediator between personality and CP. A positive association is observed with specific components of personality factors and SWB and CP. Organizations can also learn from the study that increasing the SWB of employees is one of the important parameters for their CP.

Information is needed regarding the antecedents and outcomes of flourishing, particularly in sports contexts, where the study of this optimal well-being state has remained largely unexplored. This study examined the role of strength use to facilitate flourishing, enhance team embeddedness, and counter withdrawal behaviour of athletes. It further investigated the role of flourishing to retain athletes to their sport and teams and examined the role of team embeddedness in this relationship. A cross-sectional research design was utilised with structural equation modelling to assess model fit and examine postulated relationships. The sample comprised 235 student athletes. The results suggested that team strength use predicts flourishing. It further revealed positive paths to team embeddedness from both individual and team strength use. Flourishing was also positively related to team embeddedness. Lastly, a negative association was found between team embeddedness and withdrawal behaviour among the athletes.

Abstract Background Resilience reflects individuals’ ability to bounce back quickly in the face of stressful situations. Resilience is positively correlated with psychological well-being (PWB) and negatively related to poor mental health. However, there is limited longitudinal research to confirm the causal relationships between resilience and PWB. This study aimed to examine the relationships among stress, resilience, and PWB among youths in the Philippines across two samples. A descriptive comparative study was conducted and two repeated cross-sectional samples were recruited. Eligible participants were undergraduate students from a university in the Philippines regardless of sociological backgrounds. Data were collected via anonymous online questionnaires; and analyzed by using descriptive statistics and structural equation modelling (SEM). Results A total of 630 were recruited (Sample 1 = 221 and Sample 2 = 409). Most of whom were female, Filipino, Christian and students from Nursing School. Results from SEM indicated that the hypothesized two-group models had an adequate fit with sample data. Furthermore, perceived control and resilience were significant predictors of the autonomy & growth factor of PWB. Perceived stress and resilience significantly predicted the negative triad factor of PWB. These findings were comparable across the two samples providing strong evidence to support causal relationships among the study variables. Conclusion There is a need to offer stress management interventions and resilience-based programs to enhance PWB. Additional research should be conducted to test the efficacy of the interventions.

This study aims to investigate the influence of curiosity on subjective well-being (SWB). More specifically, we examine the mediating role that the Big Five personality traits play in the relationships between these two variables. To this purpose, we used questionnaires in order to measure curiosity (Curiosity and Exploration Inventory-II), SWB (Satisfaction with Life Scale and Scale of Positive and Negative Experiences) and the Big Five personality factors (Big Five Inventory-10) in a case of a sample of 330 undergraduates (Mean age = 18.93). The analysis carried out is based on correlations, regressions and structural equation modelling. The model obtained using structural equation modelling revealed a significant relationship between curiosity and SWB via personality characteristics (χ²/df =1.74; comparative fit index = 0.95; root mean square error of approximation = 0.051; standardised root mean square residual = 0.032). Therefore, curiosity correlates significantly with SWB, but individuals characterised by a high degree of curiosity tend to have well-developed well-being since they tend to be extroverted, perseverant and emotionally stable. Future studies should also focus on other types of personality traits.   Keywords: Arterial Five personality traits, curiosity, mediation, subjective well-being.

This article proposes that passion for music is an essential element in explaining the well-being of musicians. Based on the PERMA model of well-being and on research on passion for music, this article posits that being passionate about music, and more specifically holding a harmonious type of passion (HP), reduces music-related anxiety and enhances musicians’ life satisfaction, sense of psychological growth and mastery. Furthermore, it is expected that holding an obsessive passion (OP) toward music might thwart musicians’ well-being through increased musical anxiety. These hypotheses were tested with 225 trainee and expert classical musicians. In order to provide a valid measure of passion for music, the Passion Scale for Music (PSM) was first validated. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) results provided support for the hypothesis that musicians who are passionate about music, and even more those who are HP, experience increased well-being, while OP does not contribute to musicians’ well-being. The relationships between passion and well-being in musicians were moderate to strong, confirming that the types of passion musicians hold is a central element in explaining their well-being. The article concludes that being passionate about music acts as a “sparkle” that brightens musicians’ lives with regards to their global well-being experience.
