Lead zirconate titanate, Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 (PZT), ceramics are ferroelectrics formed as solid solutions between ferroelectric PbTiO3 and ant iferroelectric PbZrO3. The subsolidus phase diagram is shown in figure 1. PZT transforms between the Ti-rich tetragonal (T) and the Zr-rich rhombohedral (R) phases at a composition which is nearly independent of temperature. This phenomenon is called morphotropism, and the boundary between the two phases is known as the morphotropic phase boundary (MPB). The excellent piezoelectric and dielectric properties occurring at this composition are believed to.be due to the coexistence of T and R phases, which results in easy poling (i.e. orientation of individual grain polarizations in the direction of an applied electric field). However, there is little direct proof of the coexistence of the two phases at the MPB, possibly because of the difficulty of distinguishing between them. In this investigation a CBD method was found which would successfully differentiate between the phases, and this was applied to confirm the coexistence of the two phases.

We successfully demonstrate that the chemical bath deposition (CBD) method is a versatile method for synthesizing phase-pure and uniform MOFs by controlling their nucleation stages and pore structures.

: Thin films of PbS were prepared onto glass substrates by using a simple and cost effective CBD method. Influence of deposition time on structural, morphology and optical properties have been investigated systematically. The XRD analysis revealed that PbS films are polycrystalline with preferred orientation in (200) direction. Enhancement in crystallinity and PbS crystallite size has been observed with increase in deposition time. Formation of single phase PbS thin films has been further confirmed by Raman spectroscopy. The surface morphology analysis revealed the formation of prismatic and pebble-like PbS particles and with increase in deposition time these PbS particles are separated from each other without secondary growth. The data obtained from the EDX spectra shows the formation of high-quality but slightly sulfur rich PbS thin films over the entire range of deposition time studied. All films show increase in absorption with increase in deposition time and a strong absorption in the visible and sub-band gap regime of NIR range of the spectrum with red shift in band edge. The optical band gap shows decreasing trend, as deposition time increases but it is higher than the band gap of bulk PbS.

AbstractIn this paper we investigate growth properties and the zero distribution of polynomials attached to arithmetic functions g and h, where g is normalized, of moderate growth, and $$0<h(n) \le h(n+1)$$ 0 < h ( n ) ≤ h ( n + 1 ) . We put $$P_0^{g,h}(x)=1$$ P 0 g , h ( x ) = 1 and $$\begin{aligned} P_n^{g,h}(x) := \frac{x}{h(n)} \sum _{k=1}^{n} g(k) \, P_{n-k}^{g,h}(x). \end{aligned}$$ P n g , h ( x ) : = x h ( n ) ∑ k = 1 n g ( k ) P n - k g , h ( x ) . As an application we obtain the best known result on the domain of the non-vanishing of the Fourier coefficients of powers of the Dedekind $$\eta $$ η -function. Here, g is the sum of divisors and h the identity function. Kostant’s result on the representation of simple complex Lie algebras and Han’s results on the Nekrasov–Okounkov hook length formula are extended. The polynomials are related to reciprocals of Eisenstein series, Klein’s j-invariant, and Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind.

ABSTRACTClose-spaced isothermal vapor phase epitaxy (VPE) was used to grow quaternary Hg1−x−yCdxZnyTe epillayers on Cd1−zZnzTe substrates. Composition, resistivity, and carrier concentration depth profiles were determined in the epilayers. p-n junctions were produced from material with appropriate properties using the Hg diffusion method. The junctions showed excellent I-V characteristics and high spectral detectivities.
