In order to meet the requirements of high-precision machine tool, it has been an important factor to select an appropriate way to support the bed. By building a multidisciplinary optimization (MDO) process based on iSIGHT, this article select the deformation difference of the guides and the deformation difference of the joint surface between column and bed of the machine tool as the objective functions, and then conduct a multi-objective optimization (MOO) of the positional parameters of the three-point support. Eventually the optimization result is given and the optimal position of the three-point support is determined.

With the continuous increase of subway operating mileage, the problem of subway vibration has become more and more significant. Nowadays, the point-supported floating-slab track is recognized as the best method to control track vibration, which is mainly designed based on the mass-spring-damping theory. How to further improve the vibration control ability of the point-supported floating-slab track? In this paper, a new type of rubber point-supported floating slab track is designed based on the local resonance theory. Through calculation and dynamic test, it is obtained as follows: (1) The band gap of the point support structure by local resonance type depends on the two vertical vibration modes. (2) As the elastic modulus of the cladding layer increases, the bandwidth of the band gap of the corresponding structure increases significantly. (3) The increase of the vibrator density can increase the bandwidth, while reducing the start and stop frequencies, which is beneficial to attenuate the resonance of the floating-slab track. (4) The cushion material parameters of point support structure by local resonance type 2 will not affect the band gap. The increase in sleeve density will reduce the band gap, which is not conducive to vibration reduction. Local resonance type floating-slab track will be the development direction of track vibration-reduction measures in the future.

Several new architectural trends emerged in the fifth and sixth centuries: (1) the development of skeletal structural systems in Late Roman architecture that transform wall support into point support; (2) the juxtaposition of longitudinal and centralized plans in church architecture; and (3) an increased interest in geometry and measurement in architectural design. The innovative developments signaled by Hagia Sophia mark a creative shift from Rome and Italy (where architecture would remain conservative after the sixth century) to Constantinople and the East.

This article presents a multi-criteria analysis of the errors that may occur while measuring the geometric deviations of crankshafts that require multi-point support. The analysis included in the paper confirmed that the currently used conventional support method—in which the journals of large crankshafts rest on a set of fixed rigid vee-blocks—significantly limits the detectability of their geometric deviations, especially those of the main journal axes’ positions. Insights for performing practical measurements, which will improve measurement procedures and increase measurement accuracy, are provided. The results are presented both graphically and as discrete amplitude spectra to make a visual, qualitative comparison, which is complemented by a quantitative assessment based on correlation analysis.

This paper describes the design philosophy and advantages of the Carshalton single point support halo-pelvic distraction frame. The Carshalton frame has been designed to provide a reliable and accurate indication of traction force and is convenient and easy to use for both staff and patient. The unique feature of this apparatus is the single point support which allows the patient to move and turn his head.
