After a satellite has been launched, it is impossible to reprogram the hardware modulator. Therefore, a nanoRTU FPGA-based controller (AAC Microtec) in a modified modulation scheme may be programmed as a modem backend for softwaredefined radio (SDR) in the satellite communication system in order to adjust the balance of data rate vs. link reliability, enable coding or encryption system, change communication protocols, etc. For this purpose, a low-power radiation-tolerant reprogrammable satellite modem back-end has been realized for the satellite-to-Earth communication. This paper describes realization of a low data rate modulator based on a robust and reliable symmetric differential phase shift keying (SDPSK) modulation scheme combined with a raised cosine pulse shaping filter in nanoRTU, and presents results of its testing

Rotation modulation (RM) has been widely used in navigation systems to significantly improve the navigation accuracy of inertial navigation systems (INSs). However, the traditional single-axis rotation modulation cannot achieve the modulation of all the constant errors in the three directions; thus, it is not suitable for application in highly dynamic environments due to requirements for high precision in missiles. Aiming at the problems of error accumulation and divergence in the direction of rotation axis existing in the traditional single-axis rotation modulation, a novel rotation scheme is proposed. Firstly, the error propagation principle of the new rotation modulation scheme is analyzed. Secondly, the condition of realizing the error modulation with constant error is discussed. Finally, the original rotation modulation navigation algorithm is optimized for the new rotation modulation scheme. The experiment and simulation results show that the new rotation scheme can effectively modulate the error divergence of roll angle and improve the accuracy of roll angle by two orders of magnitude.

This paper presents the design and implementation of an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) for a discrete-time current control and space-vector pulse-width modulation (SVPWM) with asymmetric five-segment switching scheme for AC motor drives. As compared to a conventional three-phase symmetric seven-segment switching SVPWM scheme, the proposed method involves five-segment two-phase switching in each switching period, so the inverter switching times and power loss can be reduced by 33%. In addition, the produced PWM signal is asymmetric with respect to the center-symmetric triangular carrier wave, and the voltage command signal from the discrete-time current control output can be given in each half period of the PWM switching time interval, hence increasing the system bandwidth and allowing the motor drive system with better dynamic response. For the verification of the proposed SVPWM modulation scheme, the current control function in the stationary reference frame is also included in the design of the ASIC. The design is firstly verified by using PSIM simulation tool. Then, a DE0-nano field programmable gate array (FPGA) control board is employed to drive a 300W permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) for the experimental verification of the ASIC.
