DNA cages can be joined together to make larger 3D nanostructures on which molecular electronic circuits and tiny containers are built for drug delivery. The mathematical models for these promising nanomaterials play important roles in clarifying their assembly mechanism and understanding their structures. In this study, we propose a mathematical and computer method to construct permissible topological structures with double-helical edges for a triangular bipyramid and pentangular bipyramid. Furthermore, we remove the same topological links, without eliminating the nonrepeated ones for a triangular bipyramid and pentangular bipyramid. By analyzing characteristics of these unique links, some self-assembly and statistic rules are discussed. This study may obtain some new insights into the DNA assembly from the viewpoint of mathematics, promoting the comprehending and design efficiency of DNA polyhedra with required topological structures.

We demonstrated an organic and oxide hybrid CMOS inverter with the solution-processed semiconductor and source/drain electrodes. For the solution-processed n- and p-type semiconductor, InGaZnO solution and TIPS-pentacene/PαMS blend were spin-coated respectively while Silver ink and PEDOT:PSS solution were drop-casted with the help of the bank to serve as source/drain electrodes. The InGaZnO and the TIPS-pentacene transistors show typical n- and p-type transistor operations with low off-current. Based on the combination of the solution-processed n- and p-type transistors, full-swing characteristic curve with low static current of the hybrid CMOS were obtained.

AbstractA method to electrically connect molecular devices is proposed, which has the potential to develop into an interconnection technology for 3-dimensional molecular electronic circuits. The method is based on electric-bias-induced polarization and electric-pulse-induced chemical reactions. Two molecules to be connected are oppositely biased to induce opposite charges in them. The opposite charges will create electrostatic attraction that pulls together or aligns the two molecules. An electric pulse is then applied across the two molecules to trigger a chemical linking reaction between them. The electric pulse overcomes the activation energy for such a reaction. Chemical linking reactions to produce conjugated molecular chains are proposed for several conjugated molecules, such as phenylene, ethylene, and acetylene based molecules, with different end groups, such as phenyl and acetyl groups. Applications of this method in assembling 3-terminal molecular devices and 3-dimesional molecular electronic circuits are speculated. Major challenges in realizing this interconnection method are also outlined.
