Korea and Japan are the countries with more than 30% of the population aged 60 or over in 2019, and Korea is progressing its aging speed faster than Japan. Oral healthcare in the elderly is a fundamental component of the whole health and has a significant impact on the quality of life. Accordingly, there is an urgent interest and effort for improving oral healthcare and improving the quality of life for the elderly. Due to the lack of economic power and low education levels, the number of dental visits by the elderly has dropped significantly. Therefore, developing an application for oral healthcare for the elderly not only helps to keep oral healthcare on their own but also prevents dementia, thus reducing the social cost of dementia. This mobile application is based on the findings that it can activate the cognitivebehavioural function, prevent dementia, or slow the progression of dementia by strengthening chewing function and oral muscle function exercise of the elderly. This application is composed of a content utilization module and oral healthcare diagnostic module and used Android Jellybean 4.1, Android SDK, Cordova, Materialize CSS, Sublime Editor, Windows 10 for mobile application development.

BACKGROUND While usage of EHRs has substantially increased over the past decade, building clinical applications remains challenging for multiple reasons, including security and privacy considerations, data integration, application distribution, and application deployment. OBJECTIVE We discuss the importance of platforms for health IT development, and specifically describe “igia,” an open-source collection of software packages that enable developers to build and deploy applications more efficiently. METHODS igia is an open-source collection of software packages and repositories that allow a healthcare application developer to develop and deploy EHR-linked applications more efficiently. RESULTS igia was built with several principles: first, it is open-source. Second, igia leverages best-practice solutions wherever possible. Third, it is designed to be used in operational, “clinically-ready” settings. Fourth, igia focuses on reusability and platform-level functionality, so that developers can focus on application development. Finally, igia leverages existing standards, to emphasize interoperability and health IT ecosystem integration. Features include a microservices architecture, SMART on FHIR, data integration, and care management modules. CONCLUSIONS Platforms could improve the efficiency of health IT software development. We describe “igia,” an open-source platform for building clinical applications. We hope that such a platform will reduce barriers to developing clinical applications by providing “out of the box” functionality for many common healthcare IT tasks. igia is released under an MPL v2.0 with code and documentation freely available on GitHub.

Software Process Improvement (SPI) intends to recuperate software processes to realize high quality software. But numerous SPI initiatives predominantly in the case of software Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are failed to achieve desired results as certain issues occur during this progression. Objective of this research work is to facilitate the efficacious SPI implementation in the case of software SMEs that develop healthcare applications. The study identifies and ranks common SPI implementation issues in the case of related SMEs. For this purpose, two questionnaire surveys have been performed by involving relevant software industry practitioners. In the first survey, by providing a literature-based list of SPI issues, we have solicited respondents to choose common issues or resistant factors for SPI in the case of SMEs that deal with healthcare application development. We have also requested the practitioners to mention the issues that they have been generally spotting during the SPI in case of pertinent SMEs but have not been mentioned in the given list. During the second survey, by employing two rounds of the Delphi method, practitioners have ranked the commonly transpiring SPI issues regarding SMEs that deal with the development of healthcare applications. The ranking is based on the issues' impact having four categories: catastrophic, serious, tolerable and insignificant. To incorporate various SMEs standards that are followed worldwide, the concept of 'common/shared range standard' is presented. The study identifies 26 SPI issues in the case of SMEs that develop healthcare applications whereas top 10 issues instigate from finance and management. To enable swift and fruitful SPI in the case of pertinent SMEs, this study suggests that the 26 identified issues must be tackled proactively whereas financial and managerial issues must be given top priority.
