In this paper, a novel method for the fish-eye lens calibration is presented. The method required only a 2D calibration plane containing straight lines i.e., checker board pattern without a priori knowing the poses of camera with respect to the calibration plane. The image of a line obtained from fish-eye lenses is a conic section. The proposed calibration method uses raw edges, which are pixels of the image line segments, in stead of using curves obtained from fitting conic to image edges. Using raw edges is more flexible and reliable than using conic section because the result from conic fitting can be unstable. The camera model used in this work is radially symmetric model i.e., bivariate non-linear function. However, this approach can use other single view point camera models. The geometric constraint used for calibrating the camera is based on the coincidence between point and line on calibration plane. The performance of the proposed calibration algorithm was assessed using simulated and real data.

The fisheye lens is a kind of ultra wide angle lens, which can produce a big super-wide-angle lens distortion. In order to cover a large scope of light, barrel distortion is artificially added to the optical system. However, in some cases this distortion is not allowed, then it requires calibrations of those distortions. Most of the traditional distortion calibration method uses target plane calibration to do it. This paper discusses the way of design fisheye lens, through which we can know the forming process of distortion clearly. Based on this paper, a simple and effective calibration method can be understood. Different from common camera calibration method, the proposed calibration method can avoid the error occurring in the process of calibrating test, that directly use the lens’ characteristic curve. Through multiple sets of experimental verifications, this method is effective and feasible.

This paper constructs the picking mechanical hand binocular vision hardware system. Using an internal and external parameters calibration method of separation. In the calibration process, with calibration planar pattern translatory manner, appropriate for extracting feature points in the calibration template, through experiment and calculation to obtain the accurate parameters of camera model; external parameters calibration is a reasonable selection of reference coordinate system, through experimental analysis to obtain the two cameras outside parameter model.

For the research of camera calibration in the system of grid strain measurement in sheet forming, the pinhole camera model, the nonlinear model of the camera and the binocular stereo model are analyzed, drawing a binocular stereo calibration method based on HALCON, which detailedly describes the calibration principle and specific calibration process. A binocular stereo vision calibration system based on VC6.0 is established, by which the influence on camera focus, distortion factor and principle points from the number of calibration images is verified by experiments.
