Purpose Wrist-cuff oscillometric blood pressure monitors are very popular in the portable medical device market. However, its accuracy has always been controversial. In addition to the oscillatory pressure pulse wave, the finger photoplethysmography (PPG) can provide information on blood pressure changes. A blood pressure measurement system integrating the information of pressure pulse wave and the finger PPG may improve measurement accuracy. Additionally, a neural network can synthesize the information of different types of signals and approximate the complex nonlinear relationship between inputs and outputs. The purpose of this study is to verify the hypothesis that a wrist-cuff device using a neural network for blood pressure estimation from both the oscillatory pressure pulse wave and PPG signal may improve the accuracy. Design/methodology/approach A PPG sensor was integrated into a wrist blood pressure monitor, so the finger PPG and the oscillatory pressure wave could be detected at the same time during the measurement. After the peak detection, curves were fitted to the data of pressure pulse amplitude and PPG pulse amplitude versus time. A genetic algorithm-back propagation neural network was constructed. Parameters of the curves were inputted into the neural network, the outputs of which were the measurement values of blood pressure. Blood pressure measurements of 145 subjects were obtained using a mercury sphygmomanometer, the developed device with the neural network algorithm and an Omron HEM-6111 blood pressure monitor for comparison. Findings For the systolic blood pressure (SBP), the difference between the proposed device and the mercury sphygmomanometer is 0.0062 ± 2.55 mmHg (mean ± SD) and the difference between the Omron device and the mercury sphygmomanometer is 1.13 ± 9.48 mmHg. The difference in diastolic blood pressure between the mercury sphygmomanometer and the proposed device was 0.28 ± 2.99 mmHg. The difference in diastolic blood pressure between the mercury sphygmomanometer and Omron HEM-6111 was −3.37 ± 7.53 mmHg. Originality/value Although the difference in the SBP error between the proposed device and Omron HEM-6111 was not remarkable, there was a significant difference between the proposed device and Omron HEM-6111 in the diastolic blood pressure error. The developed device showed an improved performance. This study was an attempt to enhance the accuracy of wrist-cuff oscillometric blood pressure monitors by using the finger PPG and the neural network. The hardware framework constructed in this study can improve the conventional wrist oscillometric sphygmomanometer and may be used for continuous measurement of blood pressure.

Abstrak Terapi komplementer merupakan salah satu alternatif untuk mengatasi masalah kesehatan. Hidroterapi dan relaksasi Benson merupakan terapi komplementer yang efektif terhadap tekanan darah dan nadi, namun masih jarang masyarakat yang memanfaatkannya. Diketahui ada pengaruh kombinasi hidroterapi dan relaksasi Benson (disebut hidroson) terhadap tekanan darah dan nadi. Metode penelitian pra-eksperimen, pre- and post- design dengan teknik purposive sampel pada 32 responden usia 26-65 tahun. Penelitian dilakukan dari tanggal 1-18 Maret 2019 di RT 19 dan 20, Sungapan V Desa Wahyuharjo, Kecamatan Lendah, Kabupaten Kulon Progo dengan tiap responden diberikan intervensi selama 3 hari berturut-turut. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah sphygmomanometer digital untuk mengukur tekanan darah dan nadi 5 menit sebelum dan sesudah pemberian terapi. Tekanan darah dianalisis dengan wilcoxon test dan paired t-test untuk nadi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan tekanan darah sistolik sebelum terapi sebesar 118,25 mmHg dan setelah terapi sebesar 111,00 mmHg, sehingga disimpulkan terjadi penurunan sebesar 7,25 mmHg dengan ρ Value 0,0001. Tekanan darah diastolik sebelum terapi sebesar 81,25 mmHg dan setelah terapi sebesar 78,75 mmHg, sehingga disimpulkan terjadi penurunan sebesar 2,50 mmHg dengan ρ value 0,002. Nadi sebelum terapi sebesar 82,30 x/menit dan setelah terapi sebesar 80,64 x/menit, sehingga disimpulkan terjadi penurunan sebesar 1,66 x/menit dengan ρ value 0,003. Ada pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap pemberian kombinasi hidroterapi dan relaksasi Benson (hidroson) terhadap penurunan tekanan darah dan nadi di RT 19 dan 20, Sungapan V. Hydrotherapy and Benson's relaxation are effective complementary therapies for blood pressure and pulse, but still few patients utilize it. There is a known effect of hydrotherapy and Benson relaxation combination (called hydrosol) on blood pressure and pulse. The study method was pre-experimental with pre and post design with a purposive sampling technique on 32 respondents aged 26-65 years. The pulse before therapy was 82,30 x / min and after therapy became 80,64 x / min, so there was a decrease of 1,66 x / min with ρ-value 0,003. There is a significant effect of giving a combination of hydrotherapy and Benson relaxation (hydrosol) on reducing blood pressure and pulse among 32 subjects in neighborhood 19 and 20, Sungapan V. The athlete's achievement is related to the athlete's performance in a match. The performance can be seen in blood pressure and pulse. The administration of carbohydrateelectrolyte drinks influenced blood pressure and pulse. Drinks combination of sari dates and NaCl contain carbohydrates and electrolytes which helps to improve the performanceof athletes by delaying fatigue. This research to determine the effect of combination palm juice extracts and NaCl on blood pressure and the period of recovery of the pulse of a soccer athlete. The quasi-experimental cross over study was completed. This research was carried out in the Wates square. Subjects in this study were Hizbul Wathan Wates Football School(SSB) athletes. The subjects received one experimental used 300 ml combination drink of palm juice and NaCl or control drink, namely sugar water after a washout period of six days. Blood pressure measurements were carried out fifteen minutes before exercise and fifteen minutes after exercise, while pulse measurements were carried out fifteen minutesbefore exercise and five minutes, ten minutes, fifteen minutes after exercise. The statistical test used was Shapiro Wilk, Paired t-test and Independent T-test. The results of statistical analysis showed that there was no significant effect on the combination of dates, and NaCl combined with systole and diastolic blood pressure (p> 0.05), and there was a significant effect on the combination of dates palm juice and NaCl on pulse recovery five minutes, ten minutes and fifteen minutes after exercise (p <0.05). There was no significant effect on the combination of date palm juice and NaCl on blood pressure, and there was a significant effect on the combination of dates and NaCl combination drinks on the recovery of pulsefive minutes, ten minutes and fifteen minutes after exercise. Keywords: Dates, NaCl, Soccer, Blood Pressure, Pulse

Purpose.The goal is to determine the real possibili es of assessing the fetal condi on in the ante- and intranatal periods according to the data of cardiotocography.Paents and methods.73 pa ents with physiological pregnancy at 24-40 weeks were prospec vely examined. The prac cal signifi cance of the g6b plus General MEDITECH automated fetal monitor, which allows to determine the condi on of the mother and fetus at the same  me, was evaluated.Results.The average blood pressure in the examined women was 127.2 ± 3.6 by 73.7 ± 2.3 mm. gt; pillars, pulse – 76 ± 1,5 beats/min. As for the contrac le capacity of the uterus, 47 (64,4%) pregnant women in 24–30 weeks. associated with diagnosis, and 19 (26%) – are harbingers of the forthcoming birth. The average SpO2was 99.12 ± 0.11%. Regardless of the gesta onal age, in 7 (9.6%) pregnant women – 97%, 40 (54.8%) – 99% and 21 (28.8%) – 100%. In order to assess the fetal condi on by the nature of his heartbeat, we performed an automated CTG analysis according to W. Fisher, D. Redman, FIGO: according to W. Fisher, depending on the gesta onal age of 6–7 points, 12 (16.4%) pregnant women in 25–26 weeks and 9 (12.3%) – 40 weeks, which according to the ball scale corresponds to a suspicious type. The Doze–Redman criteria were met in 47 (64.4%) pregnant women and were not met – in 26 (35.6%). Interpreta on according to FIGO guidelines as normal was detected in 64 (87.7%) pregnant women and in 9 (12.3%) – doub ul. Depending on the period of pregnancy, this group consisted of the same 9 (12.3%) pregnant women in a period of 40 weeks.Conclusion.Automated analysis allows for the correla on between the main indicators of the well-being of the maternal organism (SpO2, blood pressure, pulse, body temperature, ECG) and fetal CTG parameters (Fisher scale, Dowz Redman criteria and FIGO guidelines) to develop obstetric tac cs for each specifi c pa ent during pregnancy and childbirth.

Abstract Research examining biological risk is critical given that both the Mexican and U.S. populations are aging. Biomarkers can help us understand underlying disease patterns among Mexican-origin individuals in Mexico and the U.S. to help inform disease-prevention efforts for these populations. Using data from the 2012 Mexican Health and Aging Study and the 2010/2012 Health and Retirement Study, we examine seven biomarkers known to predict health risk: systolic and diastolic blood pressure, pulse rate, total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, glycosylated hemoglobin, and C-reactive protein. Logistic regression models, controlling for age and sex, are used to predict high-risk for each biomarker among Mexico-born Mexicans, Mexico-born Mexican-Americans, and U.S.-born Mexican-Americans. Results show that Mexico-born Mexicans exhibit higher biological risk for systolic blood pressure, pulse rate, low HDL cholesterol, glycosylated hemoglobin, and inflammation than Mexico-born and U.S.-born Mexican-Americans. Additionally accounting for socioeconomic status and health behaviors did not explain differences in high-risk among Mexican-born Mexicans.
