With recent advances in technology, internet has drastically changed the computing world from the concept of parallel computing to distributed computing to grid computing and now to cloud computing. The evolution of cloud computing over the past few years is potentially one of the major advances in the history of computing. Unfortunately, many banks are still hesitant to adopt cloud technology. New technologies such as cloud and AI will have the biggest impacts on the banking industry. For banks and credit unions wanting to achieve greater business agility, cloud technology enables organizations to respond instantly to changing market conditions, leveraging data and applied analytics to achieve customer experience and operational productivity benefits. As a result, cloud computing comes in to provide a solution to such challenges making banking a reliable and trustworthy service. This paper aims at cloud computing strategy, impact in banking and financial institutions and discusses the significant reliance of cloud computing.

Cloud Computing is a prevalent issue for organizations nowadays. Different service providers are starting to roll out their Cloud services to organizations in both commercial and industrial sectors. As for an enterprise, the basic value proposition of Cloud Computing includes but not limit to the outsourcing of the in-house computing infrastructure without capitalizing their investment to build and maintain these infrastructures. Challenges have never been ceased for striking a balance between Cloud deployment and the need to meet the continual rise in demand for computing resources. It becomes a strategic tool to increase the competitive advantage and to survival in the market for an enterprise. To reconcile this conflict, IT leaders must find a new IT operating model which can enhance business agility, scalability, and shifts away from traditional capital-intensive IT investments.

Opportunities for improving IT efficiency and performance through centralization of resources have increased dramatically in the past few years with the maturation of technologies, such as service oriented architecture, virtualization, grid computing, and management automation. A natural outcome of this is what has become increasingly referred to as cloud computing, where a consumer of computational capabilities sets up or makes use of computing in the cloud network in a self service manner. Cloud computing is evolving, and enterprises are setting up cloud-like, centralized shared infrastructures with automated capacity adjustment that internal departmental customers utilize in a self service manner. Cloud computing promises to speed application deployment, increase innovation, and lower costs all while increasing business agility. This paper discusses the various architectural strategies for clean and green cloud computing. It suggests a variety of ways to take advantage of cloud applications and help identify key issues to figure out the best approach for research and business.

Cloud computing is a recent trend in IT that moves computing and data away from desktop and portable PCs into large data centers, and outsources the “applications” (hardware and software) as services over the Internet. Cloud computing promises to increase the velocity with which applications are deployed, increase innovation, and lower costs, all while increasing business agility. But, is the migration to the Cloud the most profitable option for every business? This chapter presents a study of the basic parameters for estimating the potential infrastructure and software costs deriving from building and deploying applications on cloud and on-premise assets. Estimated user demand and desired quality attributes related to an application are also addressed in this chapter as they are aspects of the decision problem that also influence the choice between cloud and in-house solutions.

Cloud computing promises to decrease capital expenditures and offer higher utilization rates on existing hardware. To exploit the cloud computing capability to enable organizations to enhance their revenue streams and improved customer relationships while increasing business agility, organizations need to determine how best to employ cloud enabled business models that promote sustainable competitive advantage, as this chapter discusses.
