A novel wide band U-shaped monopole antenna with two C-shaped parasitic elements, suitable for WLAN and WiMAX operations, is pretented experimentally and numerically. The wide-band characteristics are obtained by using the U-shaped patch and the two C-shaped parasitic elements along the CPW signal strip. And the simulated wide antenna yields a 10dB impedance bandwidth range from 2.51GHz to 6.0GHz. The antenna is as small as 20×30×1.6mm3. The investigated antennas have been successfully designed, simulated, showing good impedance bandwidth and omni-directional radiation patterns.

This paper proposes a dual band reconfigurable microstrip slotted antenna for supporting the wireless local area network (WLAN) and worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) applications, providing coverage where both directive and omni-directive radiations are needed. The design consists of a feedline, a ground plane with two slots and two gaps between them to provide the switching capability and a 1.6 mm thick flame retardant 4 (FR4) substrate (dielectric constant Ɛ=4.3, loss tangent δ=0.019), modeling an antenna size of 30x35x1.6 mm3. The EM simulation, which was carried out using the connected speech test (CST) studio suite 2017, generated dual wide bands of 40% (2-3 GHz) with -55 dB of S11 and 24% (5.2-6.6 GHz) higher than its predecessors with lower complexity and -60 dB of S11 in addition to the radiation pattern versatility while maintaining lower power consumption. Moreover, the antenna produced omnidirectional radiation patterns with over than 40% bandwith at 2.4 GHz and directional radiation patterns with 24% bandwith at the 5.8 GHz band. Furthermore, a comprehensive review of previously proposed designs has also been made and compared with current work.

A dual-polarized aperture-coupled magnetoelectric (ME) dipole antenna is presented in this paper. The feeding network is based on substrate-integrated coaxial lines (SICLs). To describe the effect of the SICL on improving the isolation, the ME dipole with another two different feeding configurations, microstrip lines and striplines, respectively, is compared. As such, the coupling between the transmission lines is tremendously reduced and the isolation between the two input ports of different polarization is enhanced. An antenna prototype is fabricated and tested, exhibiting good performances, including an isolation level of higher than 30 dB between the two input ports and gains of more than 9.5 dBi. Besides, the proposed design is capable of achieving stable directional radiation patterns with cross-polarization levels lower than −22 dB and back radiation levels lower than −24 dB.
