With the rise of new web technologies such as web 2.0, Jquery, Bootstrap. Modernizing legacy  web systems to  benefit from the advantages of the new technologies is more and more relevant. The migration of a system from an environment to another is a time and effort consuming process, it involves a complete rewrite of the application adapted to the target platform. To realize this migration in an automated and standardized way, many approaches have tried to define standardized engineering processes. Architecture Driven Modernization (ADM) defines an approach to standardize and automate the reengineering process.  We defined an ADM approach to represent PHP web applications in the highest level of abstraction models. To do this, we have used software artifacts as a entry point . This paper describes the extraction process, which permits discovering and understanding of the legacy system. And generate models to represent the system in an abstract way.

This chapter analyzes how the development and use of mobile and Web technologies are changing the way to search information, to plan, to buy, and to travel. The new technologies are changing several aspects of our life, such as the way in which people work, buy, learn, travel, and how they relate to each other, and so on. The tourist sector certainly represents one of the most dynamic markets, able to capture innovations and opportunities provided by the Web, in such a way that gets to be an out-and-out model of e-business. Internet access now is not restricted to personal computer. In fact the use of mobile devices is becoming increasingly important. The chapter’s goal is to analyze social implications of Web applications and mobile devices and how they are improving the attitude of the customers both the fruition of tourism services and to development of sustainable tourism.

Recent innovations in the computer and software industry have placed new demands on academic programs in software engineering. Over the past decade, the technological environment in which software engineering education (SEE) resides has been rapidly changing. To be able to design, develop, and evaluate software applications and systems, future software engineers have to learn to adopt new technologies and acquire new skills. This chapter examines the educational impact of Social Web applications in classroom activities pertaining to SEE. The feasibility issues of the selection and adoption of collaborative technologies and applications are emphasized, and the pedagogical patterns are discussed. The potential prospects of such an integration and related concerns are illustrated through examples.

Modern web applications and servers like Portal require adequate support for integration of search services due to user focused information delivery and user interaction, as well as new technologies used to render such information, which is exemplified by two fundamental problems that have long plagued web crawlers: dynamic content and Javascript generated content. Today, the solution is simple: ignore such web pages. To enable “search” in Portals, a different “crawling” paradigm is required to search engines to gather and consume information. WebSphere Portal provides a framework that propagates content and information through “Seedlists”—comparable to HTML based sitemaps but richer in terms of features. This mandates that information and content delivering applications must be “search engine aware”, requiring them to enable services and seedlists for fast, efficient and complete delivery of content and information. This is the main integration point for search engines into the portal for Portal site search services for a rich and user focused search experience. This article discusses how such technologies can allow for more efficient crawling of public Portal sites by prominent Internet search engines as well as myths surrounding search engine optimization.

www technologies are developing very fast. The new technologies make possible the easier creation of the web applications, which support business activities. Small and medium size enterprises, which serve as the driving force for innovations and thus for economic development, can utilize these technologies for the creation of relatively inexpensive applications, which can be tailor-made for the given enterprise by using the open source software (OSS). This contribution presents several practical examples of how to create – update – the web site of an enterprise and how to supplement it with an e-shop option. Examples from the area of flower selling have been selected.

The Web started as a simple document-sharing network and today has evolved to become a consolidated and ubiquitous platform for creation and application distribution. To explore its demands, web browser vendors have been working on new technologies like WebAssembly, a new type of machine language for a conceptual machine instead of a real physical machine, supported by the modern web browsers, providing new features and greater performance for web applications. At the other end, embedded devices have also evolved along with applications. However, there are still semantic heterogeneity, maintainability, and development issues inherent to the vast number of devices and services that operates in the numerous domains of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). The overall objective of this work is to study the WebAssembly technology through a performance analysis in a desktop environment, presenting empirical comparisons between the execution of a program compiled in native machine code and the same program compiled in WebAssembly, to verify its flexibility to compile code written in different languages for web applications and maintain similar performance to their native applications counterpart. We also point out the opportunities and challenges to potentially apply WebAssembly as a semantic abstraction layer for embedded devices in CPS development.

Urban parks are important recreational spaces of environmental interest for citizens and city visitors. Targeted and attractive promotion of these areas can help develop alternative forms of “green tourism” and increase environmental awareness among citizens, which is particularly important and vital for the future of the planet. New technologies are a key tool for improving the experience of touring urban parks, as they can make the tour much more attractive by highlighting interesting information about the flora and fauna of the park, as well as various other points of interest. This paper presents an integrated system based on augmented reality, artificial intelligence, and data analytics methodologies, comprising both mobile and web applications, focusing on urban parks touring and management, respectively. Through the mobile app for the park visitors, an attractive, interactive touring environment is created which highlights the environmental and historical interest of those areas. At the same time, the web applications for the park managers receive and analyze visitor data to help improve the visitor experience and the overall quality of the park. Finally, the developed integrated system is evaluated to ensure that it meets all user requirements and that its usability and functional components satisfy both groups of potential users, i.e., park visitors and park managers.
