The ubiquity of the internet led to a diverse number of devices referred to as the “things” to have online access. The internet of things (IoT) framework's infrastructure is formed by sensors, actuators, computer servers, and the communication network. Within this framework, the chapter focuses on IoT interoperability challenges through virtualization agility. The use of SDN/NFVs aims to face the 5G interoperability challenge by allowing the automatic deployment and programming of network services. Consequently, virtual gateways need to be used so that interoperability is ensured between various objects and technologies. As a result, experiments will be performed on various IoT platforms which consist of physical and virtual parts. In specific, the process will be on top of a testbed so that MQTT, CoAP, and UDP protocols will be instantiated and set up in order to provide an interoperable layer using a virtual gateway.

The Internet of things is the technology extension and expansion of computer, Internet and mobile communication network. We will strongly rely on the Internet of Things in the future. The Internet of Things provides more conveniences, but it also will face more threats. In this article, we describe architecture of the Internet of Things, the function of every layer and what components every layer need. Our emphasis is to analyze the threats for the security and privacy at different levels of architecture in the Internet of Things.

Communication network data has been growing in the last decades and with the generalisation of the Internet of Things (IoT) its growth has increased. The number of attacks to this kind of infrastructures have also increased due to the relevance they are gaining. As a result, it is vital to guarantee an adequate level of security and to detect threats as soon as possible. Classical methods emphasise in detection but not taking into account the number of records needed to successfully identify an attack. To achieve this, time-aware techniques both for detection and measure may be used. In this work, well-known machine learning methods will be explored to detect attacks based on public datasets. In order to obtain the performance, classic metrics will be used but also the number of elements processed will be taken into account in order to determine a time-aware performance of the method.

The existing stand-alone multimedia machines and online multimedia machines in the market have certain deficiencies, so they cannot meet the actual needs. Based on this, this research combines the actual needs to design and implement a multi-media system based on the Internet of Things and cloud service platform. Moreover, through in-depth research on the MQTT protocol, this study proposes a message encryption verification scheme for the MQTT protocol, which can solve the problem of low message security in the Internet of Things communication to a certain extent. In addition, through research on the fusion technology of the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence, this research designs scheme to provide a LightGBM intelligent prediction module interface, MQTT message middleware, device management system, intelligent prediction and push interface for the cloud platform. Finally, this research completes the design and implementation of the cloud platform and tests the function and performance of the built multimedia system database. The research results show that the multimedia database constructed in this paper has good performance.

This paper discusses the organisations involved in the development of application standards, European regulations and best practice guides, their scope of work and internal structures. It considers their respective visions for the requirements for future standardisation work and considers in more detail those areas where these overlap, namely human centric or integrative lighting, connectivity and the Internet of Things, inclusivity and sustainability.
