Approximately 25 μm Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3–PbTiO3 (PMN-PT) thick film was synthesized based on a sol-gel/composite route. The obtained PMN-PT thick film was successfully transferred from the Silicon substrate to the conductive silver epoxy using a novel wet chemical method. The mechanism of this damage free transfer was explored and analyzed. Compared with the film on Silicon substrate, the transferred one exhibited superior dielectric, ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties. These promising results indicate that transferred PMN-PT thick film possesses the capability for piezoelectric device application, especially for ultrasound transducer fabrication. Most importantly, this chemical route opens a new path for transfer of thick film.

AbstractHighly (100)-textured thin film of metallic LaNiO3 (LNO) was grown on the Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrates by rf magnetron sputtering at ˜300°C, which was used as a bottom electrode to prepare highly (100)-textured ferroelectric films. Examples on the deposition of PbTiO3, (Pbl−xLax)TiO3, Pb(Zr0.53Ti0.47)O3, Pb[(Mg1/3Nb2/3)1−xTix]O3, and (Ba1−xSrx)TiO3 thin films by rf magnetron sputtering or sol-gel method are shown. A reduction of temperature for perovskite phase formation can be achieved, especially for those difficult to crystallize. The surface roughness of the ferroelectric films is also improved as compared to that of films deposited on conventional Pt electrode. Although the electrical properties of the ferroelectric films are affected by the out-diffusion of LNO when a higher temperature was used in the preparation of the films, under an appropriate processing condition, the highly (100)-textured films can have satisfactory electrical characteristics for application. Moreover, the polarization-fatigue property can be also improved by the use of LNO electrode.

Lead-free ferroelectric materials have attracted considerable attention due to the increasing potential application in environmental benign materials. Among lead-free ferroelectric materials, the Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 (BNT) materials were more studied because it exhibited the good ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties which could be promising candidate materials replacing Pb(Zr,Ti)O3. In this work, the lead-free ferroelectric BNT materials were synthesized by sol-gel method. The effects of fabrication process to microstructural and optical properties were studied which includes Na precursor concentration and calcining temperature. The result indicated that the Na precursor concentration were higher 40 mol.% and the calcining temperatures
