AbstractThe assumptions of instrumental methodology for measuring dynamic loads of knitted barrier meshes were defined. A test stand was built, original in terms of both mechanical construction and electronic measuring system, connected to a computer data analysis system. Maximum values of dynamic forces in the mesh fastening strings were determined. The correctness of the strain gauges construction and measurement data transmission systems was confirmed. Tests of multidirectional resistance to dynamic loads in the mesh fastening strings were carried out. The experiment involved dropping a ball with a mass of 5 kg and a diameter of 10 cm, from a height of 1 m and 2 m onto the mesh surface. The potential impact energy equaled Ep1 = 49.05 J and Ep2 = 98.1 J. The tests showed that the highest force values were observed for meshes with square-shaped a-jour structure, and for mesh with diamond-shaped a-jour geometry the force values were lower. A symmetrical forces distribution was observed in all the strings. The highest forces were recorded in the middle strings and the lowest in the outer ones. The conducted tests confirmed the correctness of the adopted constructional solutions of test stand for identification of dynamic stress distribution in mesh fastening strings. The developed method is a useful verification tool for numerical analysis of mechanical properties of barrier meshes.

The fiber optic sensor measuring system based on the Mech-Zehnder interferometry is developed in the paper. The system can be used for the strain and vibration measurement of engineering structure, and has the advantages: convenient adjusting, stable performance and strong ability of anti-interference, etc. Therefore the fiber optic sensor has been widely used in the engineering field. First the system is introduced into measuring the frequency and amplitude of the vibration subjected to force of the FRP-concrete beam. The fiber optic sensor measuring system and the electronic measuring system are synchronous used for the measurement. The analysis results of fiber optic sensor measurement approximate to the results of electronic strain gauge. Then the system is introduced into experimental stress analysis on the gas pipe, good results is obtained too. The paper provides new technical equipment for the experimental testing of various engineering structure using fiber optic sensor, also establishes the technical foundation of the research of smart structure.

Freshwater fish has high nutritional value, in purpose of precisely detecting the freshness of freshwater fish meat, the system of identifying freshwater fish meat with different freshness which was based on multi-sensors fusion was designed. The system contained of two parts which were hardware and software, the hardware mainly included gas acquisition module, PH value acquisition module and conductivity acquisition module, and the software mainly included labVIEW and matLAB. The system which was designed was used for identifying freshwater fish meat samples with the BP artificial neural network method, and the results show that the recognition performance of designed system is very well.

The design and operation of an electronic measuring system for simultaneous measurement of vertical and horizontal dimensions of horticultural produce are described. The system consists of two electronic scale units, mounted on a rigid support frame, which are connected to a portable computer via a multiplexer. A hand-held electronic calliper is also connected to the multiplexer to add versatility to the system for measuring small or untrimmed produce. System components are readily available and relatively inexpensive. The system is accurate, reliable and reduces total measuring and data entry time to about 40% of that required using manual methods.Key words: Electronic measuring system, horticultural produce
