Computer games conceptualization and development are processes that have particular features with significant complexity. The life cycle at computer games development should attend the dynamism, the challenge and the opportunities of the game market. Business process management (BPM) pretends to give an alternative perspective of management to the departmental and hierarchical one. Game firm’s business should be seen with an integrated attitude, incentivising employees from different departments to work together in the same process with a common mission and persecuting same objectives. The importance of integrating the strategic level plans and the task level deployment is crucial for increased alignment and so, organizational performance. This can be better done if there is a process strategy definition, which links strategic initiatives with all needs of a process infrastructure. The processes´ standardizing tendency opens the chance to outsource parts of them bringing possible benefits to game firm and customers. The definition of a clear framework at the strategic level allows lower processes description and global business process architecture specification. Other important aspects of business process management approach at computer games industry should include ownership clarification, performance measurement mechanisms and obviously the identification and activation of improvement opportunities. Author elects business processes customization, integration of flows between firm and its supply chain partners and superior user interfaces using specialized workflow tools as being three improvement opportunities at games industry. In addition to those components, three additional extra concepts are considered critical to have a complete understanding of BPM. They are the conscious process management, the macro process management and the centrality of process. This chapter is going to follow these vectors in order to understand possible opportunities powered by BPM to gain competitive advantages in computer game industry.

Running the business process of labor supply is not easy since it involves several parties, and n supported by elements of the documents obtained from internal and external parties. PT XYZ as a company dealing with labor supply service to foreign countries has not had any competent information systems in supporting its business processes. Therefore, this research is expected to produce a draft of information system and database applications that can support the administrative activities of labor supply of the company. The research used both analysis and design methods. Analytical method includes survey of the current system done by observation, interviews, identification of the information needs of the survey results and identification of system requirements. The design method consists of designing a model system using UML notation, designing databases and user interfaces for supporting applications. The information system applications resulted in this research can be a competitive advantage in marketing their employment services and improve business processes of PT XYZ.

Service-oriented architecture (SOA) is an emerging architectural style for developing and structuring business applications, especially enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. SOA applications are composed of small, independent, and network-accessible software components, named services. The service composition is normally based on the enterprise’s business processes. However, current composition standards like BPEL have no ability to interact with users. Therefore, we propose a mechanism for including user interaction descriptions into the composition and extending the composition platform for generating user interfaces. In our case study, a federated ERP (FERP) system, this mechanism has been implemented in a prototype based on yet another workflow language (YAWL) dynamically generating Web pages for accessing the ERP system. Because every aspect including the user interfaces can be manipulated through the service composition, such systems are highly flexible yet maintainable.

Composite applications integrate web services with other business applications and components to implement business processes. Model-driven approaches tackle the complexity of composite applications caused by domain and technology heterogeneity and integration requirements. The method and framework described in this paper generate all artefacts (workflow, data, user interfaces, etc.), required for a composite application from high level service oriented descriptions of the composite application, using model transformation and code generation techniques.

Abstract What is Digital Transformation? The intersection and confluence of four technologies – elastic cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence (AI), and the internet of things (IoT) write (Siebel, 2019) is fundamentally changing how business and governments operate in the 21st century. It is somewhat of necessity as to how the industry and markets must behave today and some describe using digital technologies and advanced analytics for economic value, agility, and speed. Industry analysts are in unison when they say that "investing in technology is not the same as digital transformation", it does not simply apply to changes in the company IT systems or simply the migration of company business processes, systems, and tools to funkier platforms with "cool" user interfaces. (Priyadarshy, February 2018) rightly said that while the E&P industry is more than 100 years old and has seen many ups and downs, the prolonged and cyclical impacts of decreased oil prices since 2014 warrants the need for transformational modification for the industry to remain operationally viable. The Upstream sector did start the digital journey from many decades ago and with incremental improvements. Among the first steps being the creation of data via traditional supervisory controls and data acquisition systems (SCADA) and ingestion of operations report which were not fully digital such as daily operations, drilling and log reports. Over the years after that, as further back as two decades ago, the E&P industry claims to have adopted digitization and digitalization in the form of digital oilfields, however, this has failed to generate significant economic value (Priyadarshy, February 2018).

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are the most important drivers in many economies. Due to their flexibility and willingness to innovate they can stand up to larger industry players. However, SMEs – as every other company – need to further reduce costs and optimize their business in order to stay competitive. Larger enterprises utilize ERP systems and other IT support for reducing costs and time in their business processes. SMEs lack behind because the introduction and maintenance of ERP systems are too expensive, the return on investment is achieved too late and the associated financial risks are too high. However, SMEs would like to have IT support for their business. The research behind the Federated ERP System (FERP) addresses the problems SMEs face with conventional ERP systems and offers reasonable and scalable IT support. This is done by decomposing the whole business logic of the ERP system into Web services, which are linked at run-time. The service composition is realized by a workflow system that is also responsible for creating and managing the user interfaces and the data-flow. By integrating only the Web services that are needed (possibly from third parties) the cost is reduced and the functionality can be scaled to the actual needs. However, not only a technical solution is needed but also the development process must be tailored towards SMEs. Small companies cannot afford highlyskilled staff and often do not have defined business processes.
