The drive at the center of gravity (DCG) principle has been adopted in computer numerical control (CNC) machines and industrial robots that require heavy-duty and quick feeds. Using this principle requires accurate corrections of positioning errors. Conventional error compensation methods may cause vibrations and unstable control performances due to the delay between compensation and motor motion. This paper proposes a new method to reduce the positioning errors of the dual-driving gantry-type machine tool (DDGTMT), namely, a typical DCG-principle-based machine tool. An error prediction method is proposed to characterize errors online. An algorithm is proposed to quickly and accurately compensate the errors of the DDGTMT. Experiment results verify that the non-delay error compensation method proposed in this paper can effectively improve the accuracy of the DDGTMT.

In this paper, a software-based resolver-to-digital converter using tangent algorithm is proposed. Meanwhile, three main non-ideal signal characteristics which cause the error of the presented resolver-to-digital converter are individually discussed, and the error compensation methods are given. The results show that the proposed strategies effectively improve the accuracy and stability of the system.

Digital fringe projection measurement technology has been widely used in computer vision and optical three-dimensional (3D) measurement. Considering the phase error caused by the gamma distortion and nonlinear error, the active gamma precorrection and phase error compensation methods based on the three-frequency with three-phase shifts are designed to reversely solve the initial phase and accurately compensate phase error. On the one hand, the gamma coefficient of the measurement system depends on precoding two groups of fringe sequences with different gamma coefficients to calculate the corresponded proportional coefficient of harmonic component. On the other hand, the phase error compensation method is designed to compensate the phase error and improve the accuracy and speed of phase calculation after gamma correction. Experiments show that the proposed precalibration gamma coefficient method can effectively reduce the sinusoidal error in nearly 80 percent which only needs fewer fringe patterns. Compared with the traditional three-frequency with four-phase shift method, the proposed method not only has higher phase accuracy and better noise resistance but also has good robustness and flexibility, which is not limited to the gamma distortion model.

In this paper the characteristics of geometric errors is discussed in detail, error compensation methods used in productive practice and relevant examples are given. Finally, the application of error compensation in different situation is discussed according to the characteristics of machining center. The machine accuracy can be improved by error compensation. It has important practical reference value for reasonable use and maintaining of NC machine tool.

The method of wheel-weight for mine's automatic light rail weight-bridge is put forward. According to some important factors which cause measure error using wheel-weight method, for example, zero drift, speed and gradient, the error compensation algorithms are studied. The software flow charts of these algorithms are given, which have been put into effect in the ARM microprocessor based embedded system. It has been found that these error compensation methods are efficient to improve the accuracy of the measurement system.
