Aviation safety has been affected greatly by technological improvements. A series of Ground Proximity Warning Systems (GPWSs) were developed to prevent accidents during Controlled Flight into Terrain (CFIT). This study analyzed the role of GPWS (or Enhanced GPWS, EGPWS) in flight safety history to determine how effective GPWS/EGPWS was in terms of preventing CFIT. The result showed a substantial increase in CFIT accidents due to the rapid growth of aviation development. This situation improved after the mandatory installation of GPWSs in commercial aircraft. However, the legal requirement did not apply to all general aviation. Most CFIT accidents have involved general aviation aircraft that do not have GPWS/EGPWS installed on board. Thus, the mandatory requirement should apply to all civil aircraft. CFIT accidents have also been reduced considerably in developed countries whereas they remain a major issue in developing countries.

The effect of Belly-flap on aerodynamic performance of BWB civil aircraft are investigated in take-off and landing by computational fluid dynamics. And the overload of BWB with Belly-flap also is calculated in the same flight condition. Six parameters are discussed as design parameters of the Belly flap. It is shown that the proper combination of design parameters of Belly-flap can increase the maximum of lift and reduce the angle of attack and nose down moment to improve the flight safety in take-off and landing. When the aircraft with Belly-flap encounters the gust, the maximum overload is very close to 2.5 which are requested by FAR. It is suggested the optimized design of Belly-flap should be done if the Belly-flap is applied in BWB civil aircraft.

A survey of the state of the aviation park of Ukraine was conducted: trends of changes in the indicators of efficiency of use of civil aviation of Ukraine during period since 2003 till 2018 were shown, as well as the age and quantity composition of the aviation park of the leading airlines, such as the International Airlines of Ukraine and Aviation Company "Rosa winds "and others. It is determined that the development of civil aviation is associated with the general tendencies of international air transport and is caused both by global and domestic state social, economic, political and other factors. It has been established that the issues of aircraft reliability, flight safety, which are directly related to the maintenance and maintenance of airworthiness of aircraft, and will remain relevant to all countries without exception, regardless of the level of development and the state of the technologies used to provide them. It was established that the main factors determining the relevance of issues of maintaining and confirming the airworthiness of civil aircraft are: the need to ensure the safe operation of different age groups of aircraft at the same time and the use of intensively aging technology of domestic production; insufficient efficiency of the monitoring system on the state of reliability and efficiency of aircraft equipment; unreadiness of the existing system of operation to effective functioning in conditions of mass exhaustion of established terms of service for most objects of aviation engineering; catastrophically low level of funding for research related to the technical support of the operation of aircraft; the lack of systemic action and the unresolved issues in the development of effective programs for ensuring the reliability of aviation technology. The study can be used to substantiate ways to improve the system of maintenance, maintenance and confirmation of the airworthiness of civil aviation aircraft of Ukraine, as well as to overcome the disadvantages of existing systems of monitoring the reliability and safety of flights of Ukrainian airlines.

Icing is an important disaster-causing factor which threatens the flight safety of civil aircraft and a major safety issue of concern for the airworthiness. The design of icing protection system based on ice-tolerant concept can minimize the impact of icing on aerodynamic characteristics and fully utilize the potential of flight performance, which is the frontier direction of current icing protection research for civil aircraft. This paper aims at the requirements of civil aircraft flight safety design and airworthiness certification. The design method of civil aircraft icing protection system based on the concept of ice-tolerant capacity is analyzed from two aspects. One is the capacity of ice-tolerant for aircraft frame, the other one is the design of ice-tolerant with active control. The optimum design strategy of wing in aerodynamic performance considering icing loss is refined and the design idea of ice-tolerant protection control system based on flight control law reconstruction is formed. The change from passive flight safety of icing to active safety design of icing can effectively improve the survivability and safety of civil aircraft under icing weather conditions.

Abstract. Compared with other team settings, flight crew in air transport present a unique situation where the leader or supervisor regularly engages in active control. When the captain is assigned cognitively demanding pilot flying duties, the subordinate and often less experienced first officer must perform equally crucial monitoring and support duties. Using a systematic review methodology, this study reviews the reported effect of crew role assignment on flight safety outcomes. Our review identified 18 relevant studies and suggests crew performance factors linked to flight safety are affected by crew role assignment. Findings suggest a greater number of inherent obstacles may exist for optimal crew performance with the captain as pilot flying, raising the need for further specific research and policy review in this area.
