This paper builds an efficient agent-based flexible scheduling for real-world manufacturing systems. Considering the alternative processes and alternative machines, the allocation of manufacturing resources is achieved through negotiation among the job and machine agents in a multi-agent system (MAS). Ant Colony Intelligence (ACI) is proposed to be combined with Contract Net Protocol (CNP) so as to make agents adaptive to changing circumstances. ACI is integrated into both machine agents and job agents to solve the task allocation and sequencing problem. CNP is introduced to allow the agents to cooperate and coordinate their local schedules in order to find globally near-optimal robust schedules. The negotiation protocol is an interactive bidding mechanism based on the hybrid contract net protocol. The implementation of the issues using CNP model is discussed. Experimental results verify the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed algorithm integrated with ant-inspired coordination.

This paper mainly concentrated on the method of improving the dispatching trucks working at a container terminal and built the multi-agent model for the dispatching job. The contract net protocol was taken as the communication ones among agents, and the analytic hierarchy process was also applied for the decision support for container trucks dispatching.

Over the last few decades, the electricity sector has experienced several changes, resulting in different electricity markets (EMs) models and paradigms. In particular, liberalization has led to the establishment of a wholesale market for electricity generation and a retail market for electricity retailing. In competitive EMs, customers can do the following: freely choose their electricity suppliers; invest in variable renewable energy such as solar photovoltaic; become prosumers; or form local alliances such as Citizen Energy Communities (CECs). Trading of electricity can be done in spot and derivatives markets, or by bilateral contracts. This article focuses on CECs. Specifically, it presents how agent-based local consumers can form alliances as CECs, manage their resources, and trade on EMs. It also presents a review of how agent-based systems can model and support the formation and interaction of alliances in the electricity sector. The CEC can trade electricity directly with sellers through private bilateral agreements. During the negotiation of private bilateral contracts, the CEC receives the prices and volumes of their members and according to its negotiation strategy, tries to satisfy the electricity demands of all members and reduce their costs for electricity.

Manufacturing Execution System (MES) has significantly evolved into more powerful and integrated software applications. However, MES applications still fall short of adding decision-making tools capabilities in adaptive manufacturing. On the base of analyzing the deficiencies of the traditional MES, this paper proposes the model of MES based multi-agent and the Contract Net based mechanism of cooperation planning. In the process of communication among multi-agents, strategy agent cooperates with schedule agent so as to realize dynamic and adaptive scheduling. Finalay, system framework based on CORBA and Multi-Agent System was put forward.
