An ensemble performs well when the component classifiers are diverse yet accurate, so that the failure of one is compensated for by others. A number of methods have been investigated for constructing ensemble in which some of them train classifiers with the generated patterns. This study investigates a new technique of training pattern generation. The method alters input feature values of some patterns using the values of other patterns to generate different patterns for different classifiers. The effectiveness of neural network ensemble based on the proposed technique was evaluated using a suite of 25 benchmark classification problems, and was found to achieve performance better than or competitive with related conventional methods. Experimental investigation of different input values alteration techniques finds that alteration with pattern values in the same class is better for generalization, although other alteration techniques may offer more diversity.

Abrasive Free Polishing (AFP) is a polishing technology without abrasives and widely employed in copper-base semiconductor fabrications. This paper investigates the effect of passivants, added to the slurry, on the material removal rate (MRR) and the non-uniformity (NU) via experiments. Two kinds of passivants, Benzotriazole (BTA) and citric acid (CA) are added to the slurry for the experiments. Experimental results showed that the MRR increases when polishing pressure increases while NU decreases at the same time. Both MRR and NU tends to increase when rotational speed increases, though MRR and NU at 40 rpm are lower than that at 30 and 50 rpm in the slurry with CA. Experimental data also showed that AFP using the slurry with CA performs better than that with BTA.

This paper is an experimental investigation on the roles of chemical corrosion and mechanical polishing of the chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) of wafers with copper film of 1,000 nm thickness. Three types of experiments are designed and conducted: chemical corrosion, mechanical polishing, and CMP with φ0.3μm Al2O3 as abrasives. The results showed that copper films after PVD and annealing sustain tensile stress that intensifies corrosion rate. In general, the stress of copper film increases at higher annealing temperature and the corrosion rate increases correspondingly though the relationship is weak. The polishing rate of pure mechanical polishing is about the same as that of pure chemical corrosion, but surface roughness of mechanical polishing and CMP are much better than that of chemical corrosion. Furthermore, the removal rate of mechanical polishing and chemical corrosion, about 2nm/min, are relatively low compared to that of CMP, about 30nm/min, it indicates that the removal mechanism of CMP is not simply a linear superposition of chemical corrosion and mechanical polishing. The strong interaction and the combined reaction of chemical corrosion and mechanical polishing need further investigation.

In this paper, full-scale experiments had been designed and implemented in wind tunnel to simulate the corridor fire. A combination model with smoke buffer and other smoke-control modes was established on the base of experiment, and Fire Dynamic Simulation (FDS) was applied to simulate fire in the same conditions. The results reflected that the model is reasonable and viable by compared the simulation results and the experiment dates and the error of the average temperature is about 4.08%. Experimental studies also show that in those modes one smoke outlet is needed every 30m and it is better to set near the ignition source. Its exhaust efficiency is 72.1%, better than others; additionally it needs to put up smoke screen to strengthen the smoke exhaust effect. Thus the best combination with smoke-control is perfect in corridor.

Based on the experimental investigation of quasi-static test of 6 AAC block walls and obtain the load-displacement experimental results, the deformation behavior and dissipative capacity of the walls due to different height to width ratios and vertical pressing stresses are studied and analyzed, the comparisons and analyses with other block walls’ deformation behavior are also carried out. The results indicate that AAC block walls’ dissipative capacity is directly proportional with vertical pressing stresses and the deformation behavior is otherwise, the diversification of height to width ratios can change the breaking form of block walls and affect on ductility and dissipative capacity. The ductility of AAC block walls is better than other block walls.

This research paper presents the experimental results of drying of chili by using the active solar dryer and sun drying because of chili is a commercial agricultural product of Thailand. The active solar dryer consisted of a solar collector, a drying chamber and a chimney. The small fans were installed in the solar collector of active solar dryer to provide the air flow circulated in the solar collector and a drying chamber. Drying of chili of 20 kg from moisture content 84 percent wet basis to 10 percent wet basis following the Thai Agricultural Standard (TAS 3001-2010) showed that the use of the active solar dryer to make the drying time reduced about 28.7 percent compared with sun drying because of the hot air temperature inside the drying chamber higher than the ambient temperature about 10 to 15 . The quality of dried chili from the active solar dryer better than dried chili from sun drying.

It is well-known that the mechanical properties of nanocomposites are better than those of conventional composites. One of problems in fabricating nanocomposites is a dispersion of nanoparticles in the composites. In this study, the effect of MMT content on the tensile characteristics of trifunctional silane-treated MMT/epoxy nanocomposite was investigated. It was found that the tensile strength and the elastic modulus increased by over 24% and 83%, respectively, as the content of MMT increases from 2wt% to 10wt%. The improvement of tensile strength and modulus with increasing content of MMT occurs because the reinforcing effect of MMT becomes greater than the deteriorating effect due to the interfacial debonding between MMT and epoxy as the MMT content increases.

Abstract The present study investigates the effect of chevron with tab (Tabbed chevron) fixed at the exit of the co-flowing primary nozzle on the mixing characteristics in subsonic and sonic jets. The experiment was conducted for the jet Mach number 0.6 and 0.8. The centerline Mach number decay was calculated for all these jet Mach numbers for the co-flow baseline nozzle, nozzle with chevrons and tabbed chevron (primary flow) nozzle respectively. It was found that tabbed chevron was effective in reducing the potential core length by 88.23% as compared to the chevron nozzle with baseline nozzle. The radial profile also shows that the mixing enhancement by tabbed chevron is better than chevron nozzle.
