A business process displays complexity as a result of multiple interactions of its internal components and interaction between the process and its environment. To manage complexity and foster flexibility of business process management (BPM), we present the DCAR architecture for developing complex BPM systems, which includes decomposition of complex processes (D); coordination of interactive activities (C); awareness of dynamic environments (A); and resource selection and coordination (R). On the other hand, computing technologies, such as object-oriented programming, component-based development, agent-oriented computing, and service-oriented architecture have been applied in modeling and developing complex systems. However, there is considerable ambiguity involved in differentiating between these overlapping technologies and their use in developing BPM systems. No explicit linkage has been established between the requirement of complex BPM and the supporting technologies. In this study, we use the DCAR architecture as the foundation to identify the BPM requirements for employing technologies in developing BPM systems. Based on an examination of the both sides (BPM requirements and supporting technologies), we present a clear picture of business process complexity with a systemic approach for developing complex BPM systems by using appropriate computing technologies.

Business process management (BPM) is considered to be an effective way to improve their business agility for the enterprises. But after analysis, it found that the existing BPM system has been difficult to meet the needs of enterprises development. It analyzed the theory and technology of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and BPM, and presented the BPM system solution based on SOA. Finally, it took case with a process improvement, which described the process of implementing a BPM system based on SOA. Practice has proved that the combination of SOA and BPM can greatly improve the business agility.

To reuse the existing power quality systems; share the information and support the changing of management business process in power quality, a power quality management platform based on Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is proposed. The platform architecture is divided into five layers; the components of each layer are expounded. A business process of disturbance load evaluation implemented by Business Process Management (BPM) is illustrated. By using the architecture in real systems, conclusion can be made that the proposed architecture is feasible.

Las organizaciones están viviendo un cambio en el paradigma de desarrollo de sus sistemas de información: de los datos a los procesos. La finalidad que se persigue con ello es enfatizar los procesos de negocio para conseguir arquitecturas más ágiles y flexibles adaptables a los continuos cambios que se producen en los mercados en los que las organizaciones desarrollan su negocio. El objetivo es independizar la gestión de los procesos de negocio de las aplicaciones, para que cualquier modificación en la lógica de negocio no afecte al código de las aplicaciones. Para ello se utilizarán sistemas de gestión de procesos de negocio (BPMS). Es una revolución similar a la que se produjo al asilar la gestión de los datos de las aplicaiones, con la llegada de las bases de datos y el modelo relacional. Este cambio de arquitectura, orientada a los procesos, se consigue más fácilmente si la organización dispone ya de una arquitectura orientada a servicios que además le permitirá exteriorizar su funcionalidad en forma de servicios web. Los procesos de negocio combinarán estos servicos mediante orquestación y coreografías. En este trabajo se aborda la descripción general de los BPMS, estudiando su relación con la integración de aplicaciones y arquitecturas de servicios.<br /><br />Organizations are living a paradigm shift in the development of their information systems: from data to process. The objective is tho emphasize business process to obtain flexible and agile architectures and hence to be capable to face the continuous changes that take place in the environment where the organizations make their business. The purpose is making independent the business process management of software applications and so to achieve that a change in business rules have not a big impact in applications software code. To carry out this goal it will be necessary to build Business Process Management Systems. A similar revolution took place when the introduction of the relational database model cause applications to separate their data model of their logic. This process oriented architectural change can be better obtained if the organization has a previous service oriented architecture. Moreover, in this case the organzation can make a externalization of their functionality by means of web services. Business process could allow to combine services using choreographies and orchestration. This work shows a BPMS general description, studying their relation with the integration of applications and services architectures

Organizations are permanently confronted with the need for adaptation to a complex business environment that is in a continuous change and transformation. Thus, the organization’s agility represents a key element in obtaining the strategic advantage and the market success. The paper analyzes the connection between the Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), the Business Process Management (BPM) and the Decision Management, as well as the way in which these modern approaches contribute to obtaining organization agility. The main changes determined by the organization’s service orientation, changes that are necessary for the success of the transition to the agile organization, are also identified and presented within the paper. Obtaining and maintaining agility implies the existence of an agile architecture at the level of organization. For that matter, the final part of the paper analyzes the creation of an organizational architecture based on standards and oriented on services. Four relevant approaches have been selected, which joined may lead to obtaining an agile enterprise architecture, namely: SOA, Cloud Computing, BPM, and Decision Management.

Em resposta aos desafios em aliar conceitos da disciplina de BPM (Business Process Management) aos conceitos de Engenharia de Software, SCRUM, desenvolvimento agil de software, assim como conceitos de SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) e entendimento entre as areas de Processos, Negocios e TI, este trabalho apresenta uma abordagem de desenvolvimento de software, para automatizar processos com apoio de BPMS (Business Process Management System). A abordagem e um guia para os profissionais de TI e de negocio para que ambos se apropriem dos passos necessários ao desenvolvimento de automatização e desenvolvam uma solução de forma orientada a processos. A abordagem foi validada através de projetos de pesquisa-ação.
