This article presents the performance of Distributed Generation (DG) towards Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) in mitigating voltage dips. An investigation was conducted to explore the effect of DG with the test system and the results will be analyzed during line to ground fault with DVR contains DG and without DG. The percentages of the voltage dips that occur will be compared between all the test systems. From this analysis of voltage dips percentage, the effectiveness of the DG towards DVR in mitigating voltage dips can be obtained clearly. The simulation of the test system will be done using Power System Computer Aided Design (PSCAD) software.

Today most of the industries and customers are using sensitive and sophisticated electrical equipment based on semiconductor devices, these may causes power quality disturbance. The major problems are voltage sag and swell. The sag and swell not only occur by disturbed power quality but also due to high system tapping at point of common coupling. To overcome this problem and to improve power quality the distribution companies uses various custom power devices. Among the various custom power devices Dynamic voltage restorer is used for compensation in this paper, which is most popular and widely used method. Here, In phase compensation technique of DVR is used with battery energy storage system. The voltage at PCC have been observed. The control technique employed here is SRF theory with PI controller. The overall work is carried out in MATLAB Simulink.

Makalah ini mendiskusikan tentang analisis kompensasi tegangan sag. Tegangan sag disebabkan oleh gangguan hubung singkat 3 fasa ke tanah. Gangguan tersebut memiliki dampak besar terhadap kerusakan pada saluran beban Penyulang Pujon. Tegangan sag dapat diatasi dengan kompensasi menggunakan Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR), yang mana DVR merupakan salah satu dari custom power device yang paling efektif. Hysteresis dan ANN diusulkan untuk mengatur kompensasi tegangan sag dari DVR. Hasil simulasi menunjukkan bahwa kontrol Hysteresis mampu mengkompensasi tegangan beban rata-rata sebesar 95.9 %, dan ANN 104.3%. Kontrol Hysteresis lebih baik dibandingkan dengan kontrol ANN dalam mengkompensasi tegangan beban, yang mana tidak melebihi tegangan beban normal pada saat kompensasi tegangan sag.

A dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) is a FACTS gadget, which is utilized fundamentally in transmission lines to remunerate the voltage list and voltage swell that happens on hold. A DVR is a circuit, which made out of intensity electronic parts like diodes and thyristors. It is generally utilized because of its miniature size and proficient activity. This paper proposes a cascaded inverter type DVR to repay voltage hang in the utilities for power appropriation, which is used for country zone advancement. The DVR infuses a voltage arrangement to the framework voltage. The multi carrier PWM strategy is utilized to produce terminating voltage to inverter. Abstract— Recently a large interest has been focused on power quality field due to: disturbances caused by non-linear loads, Increase in the number of electronic devices and renewable energy sources. Power quality measures the fitness of the electric power transmitted from generation to the industrial, domestic and commercial consumers. In a power system voltage distortion introduced by harmonics and voltage sags are the most severe affecting power quality, because of both consumers and utilities are affected by these disturbances. Different methods to enhance the power quality but the custom power device is the most effective and efficient method. One of which is the use of Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR). The performance of the DVR based on Fuzzy Neural controller to restore the load voltage to its nominal value under different fault conditions and power disturbances is presented in this paper. Simulation results are carried out using MATLAB/SIMULINK program. The faults and disturbances are initiated at 0.8s and kept till 0.95s.

<p>This paper presents the application of dynamic voltage restorers (DVR) on power distribution Systems for mitigation of voltage sags/swells at critical loads. DVR is one of the compensating types of custom power devices. The power quality is affected mainly due to the sensitive loads which results in voltage sag and voltage swells. It is necessary to investigate the suitable methods for mitigation of voltage sags. Sensitivity is the main cause of the above power quality problems and it cannot be eliminated completely as it has many other operating properties. So the next possible solution is to correct the problems caused by the sensitive equipments connected to the faulty loads. The occurrence of sag and swell varies with equipment, environment, process operations, desired control schemes etc. From the wide range of mitigation methods, the selected one has to be observed for the effect on the characteristics. These problems can be mitigated with voltage injection method using custom power device, Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR). In this paper we design a Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) which is utilized for power quality improvement. The main power quality problems like voltage sag and swell are studied in this paper. The device used to phase out voltage sags and a swell in the distribution lines is the Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR). The Dynamic Voltage Restorer is a special type of power device used for providing consistent and reliable supply power to the load devices. Dynamic Voltage Restorer uses a vector control strategy for mitigating power quality problems by automatically detecting and injecting the voltage components through an injection transformer. Here comes the importance of soft computing techniques like PI controller. The system will be able to correct repeated occurrences of the power quality problems. </p>

The custom power park (CPP) is a concept that has been developed for the purpose of dealing with power quality problems. The CPP is powered by two independent feeders and consists of different types of custom power devices for compensation (dynamic voltage restorer, DVR) and reconfiguration (static transfer switch, STS). Normally, the loads are fed by the preferred feeder (PF) through the STS. When a fault occurs in the PF, the STS performs a reconfiguration of the feeders and feeds the load with an alternate feeder. In this paper, a two-input DVR based on the matrix converter is proposed to provide stable voltage to the load. Each of the DVR inputs is connected to a different feeder, and the PF powers the load. Thus, the DVR has an operational behavior like the STS when reconfiguring the energy transfer of the two feeders and injects it into the PF to guarantee a stable voltage in the load. The control algorithm in the DVR is performed in the dq reference frame to have a unit power factor in feeders and load. The modulation schemes are based on space vector modulation and modified carrier based pulse width modulation. The efficiency and multifunctionality of the proposed DVR is corroborated by simulations on the MATLAB/Simulink.
