A kind of model oriented assembly process simulation in WTK environment has been proposed. In the model, firstly, the assembly hierarchy of mechanical products can be presented clearly. Secondly, the assembly constraints between parts can be added to the model easily. At last, the assembly process information such as assembly sequence and path for each part can be recorded at real time in the model. Then, the converted method from PRO/E system to WTK environment about the mechanical product’s design information including geometric models, product design hierarchies and constraints has been discussed, which makes for easier building the model in the virtual environment.

This paper is to explain the application of DELMIA in 3D digital virtual assembly. It takes ARJ21 aircraft central wing assembly simulation process as an example. It introduces the related modules of DELMIA software and discusses the application of DELMIA in aircraft assembly simulation through the central wing assembly process simulation and human task simulation in the ARJ21 aircraft central wing assembly simulation.

In order to effectively represent assembly process information based on three dimensional (3D) models and rapidly extract the necessary information for assembly process planning, analysis and simulation, this paper aims to research the multiple view representation of assembly process information based on 3D models. Assembly process information based on 3D models is summarized and considered as the single source of the multiple view representation. The definition and organization of assembly process view is defined to implement assembly process representation based on view. Assembly process views based on assembly process planning work flow are established. View mapping approach is investigated to rapidly extract the necessary information for assembly process planning, analysis and simulation. The use of the multiple view assembly process representation is illustrated by building detailed assembly process view and assembly process simulation view and by extracting relevant information for the assembly process simulation view from detailed assembly process view.
