This paper treats the numerical analysis of the rising process of a solid-gas-liquid three-phase mixture along a vertical pipeline with an abrupt enlargement in diameter. The system of governing equations used is based upon the one-dimensional multifluid model and the transitions of gas flow pattern are taken into account in the system of governing equations. For the case of a sudden enlargement in diameter in a coaxial pipeline, the procedure of the numerical calculation to obtain the flow characteristics in the pipeline section after a sudden change in diameter has been established here. Furthermore, in order to confirm the validity of the present theoretical model by the comparison between the calculated and experimental values, the experiments have been made using four kinds of lifting pipes, including the straight one. Thereby, it has been found that the numerical model proposed here gives good fit to the prediction of the flow rates of lifted water and solid particles against that of air supplied for the case of a sudden change in diameter. In addition, the flowing process for each phase has been investigated from a photographic point of view. As a result, we found that the moving process of the solid particles depends strongly upon the volumetric flux of gas-phase as well as the submergence ratio.

AbstractZafarana Wind Park is considered the largest wind farm in Middle East. By the year 2022, Zafarana wind farm will inject 545 MW to Egypt national electric network (ENEN). This wind farm has been connecting to ENEN in stages (eight stages) from ten years ago. Each stage represents a project of wind farm. Hence, the impact of the emergency condition of ENEN on the performance of the installed stage of Zafarana Wind Park should be studied. Moreover, determining the possible method to reduce the side effects of the emergency condition of ENEN on the installed stage of Zafarana Wind Park becomes an important issue. In this paper, a combination between Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC) and crowbar (Cro-SSSC) is used to enhance the performance of the one installed stage of Zafarana Wind Park. The studied stage of Zafarana Wind Park is Zafarana Z1 wind farm (Z1). Zafarana Z1 wind farm represents that first stage of Zafarana Wind Park that was connected to ENEN. Hence, the paper takes Zafarana Z1 wind farm as the studied case to examine the impact of Cro-SSSC. The crowbar is used to protect the power components of the SSSC from the high current during grid fault condition. Also, in this paper multi-objective lightning attachment procedure optimization algorithm (LAPO) and the sine cosine algorithm (SCA) are used to evaluate and tune the control gains of SSSC and the value of crowbar's resistance. This step is important in order to determine the values of the control's gains of SSSC and the value of crowbar resistance which suit the studied system (one installed stage of Zafarana Wind Park). The sliding mode control (SMC) is used as an example of nonlinear control of SSSC. Also, a hybrid of LAPO and SMC is used to improve the performance of Zafarana Z1 during faults. The results of LAPO, SCA and SMC are compared during three-phase fault and single line to ground fault applied to the studied system.

A novel three-phase power-factor-correction (PFC) rectifier with zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) in six main switches and zero-current-switching (ZCS) in the auxiliary switch is proposed, analyzed, and experimentally verified. The main feature of the proposed auxiliary circuit is used to reduce the switching loss when the six main switches are turned on and the one auxiliary switch is turned off. In this paper, a detailed operating analysis of the proposed circuit is given. Modeling and analysis are verified by experimental results based on a three-phase 7 kW rectifier. The soft-switched PFC rectifier shows an improvement in efficiency of 2.25% compared to its hard-switched counterpart at 220 V under full load.

Abstract Two numerical methods are presented for solving the equations for one-dimensional, multiphase flow in porous media. The case of variable physical properties is included in the formulation, although gravity and capillarity are ignored. Both methods are analyzed mathematically, resulting in upper and lower bounds for the ratio of time step to mesh spacing. The methods are applied to two- and three-phase waterflooding problems in laboratory-size cores, and resulting saturation and pressure distributions and production histories are presented graphically. Results of the two-phase flow problem are in agreement with the predictions of the Buckley-Leverett theory. Several three-phase flow problems are presented which consider variations in the water injection rate and changes in the initial oil- and water-saturation distributions. The results are different physically from the two-phase case; however, it is shown that the Buckley-Leverett theory can accurately predict fluid interface velocities and displacing-fluid frontal saturations for three-phase flow, providing the correct assumptions are made. The above solutions are used as a basis for evaluating the numerical methods with respect to machine time requirements and allowable time step for a fixed mesh spacing. Introduction Considerable progress has been made in recent years in obtaining numerical solutions of the equations for two-phase flow in porous media. Douglas, Blair and Wagner2 and McEwen11 present different methods for solving the one-dimensional case for incompressible fluids with capillarity (the former using finite differences, the latter with an approach based upon characteristics). Fayers and Sheldon4 and Hovanesian and Fayers8 have extended these studies to include the effects of gravity. West, Garvin and Sheldon,14 in a pioneer paper, treat linear and radial systems with both capillarity and gravity and they also include the effects of compressibility. Douglas, Peaceman and Rachford3 consider two-dimensional, two-phase, incompressible flow with gravity and capillarity and Blair and Peaceman1 have extended this method to allow for compressible fluids. No one, however, has examined the case of three-phase flow, even for the relatively simple case of one-dimensional flow of incompressible fluids in the absence of gravity and capillarity. In obtaining a numerical technique for simulating forward in situ combustion laboratory experiments, Gottfried5 has developed a method for solving the one-dimensional, compressible flow equations with any number of flowing phases. Gravity and capillarity are not included in the formulation. The method has been used successfully, however, for two- and three-phase problems in a variable-temperature field with sources and sinks. This paper examines the algorithm of Gottfried more critically. Two numerical methods are presented for solving the one-dimensional, multi-phase flow equations with variable physical properties. Both methods are analyzed mathematically, and are used to simulate two- and three-phase waterflooding problems. The numerical solutions are then taken as a basis for comparing the utility of the methods. Problem Statement Consider a one-dimensional system in which capillarity, gravity and molecular diffusion are negligible. If n immiscible phases are present, n 2, the equation describing the flow of the ith phase is:12Equation 1 where all terms can vary with x and t.

In order to analyze the transient performance of the multiple three-phase synchronous motor (MTSM) operating at synchronous speed, according to the complex mathematical model and the stator inductance matrix feature of the MTSM, its complex equivalent circuit was studied, and the parameter formulas of this equivalent circuit are presented in the general form. The complex equivalent circuit of the MTSM proposed in this paper is formed by many reactance branches which contain an armature reactance of the one set of three-phase winding and several equivalent leakage reactances, and the equivalent leakage reactances are related to the stator currents.

In this article, we propose a new strategy for controlling three-phase inverters of renewable energy sources, based on the Duty Cycle Modulatiom (DCM) control using the Park and Fortescue transformation (DCM-dq-dih). Our goals in setting and using this strategy are, on the one hand, to induce a lower harmonic rate as compared to the SPWM (Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation) strategy and on the other hand, this control technique enables the inverter to deliver balanced voltages, be it in the event of load unbalance. Our design is built on the basis of the known mode of DCM control of single-phase inverters. Thus, the control of our three-phase inverter is carried out by three DCM modules whose set-points come from the direct, reverse and homopolar strings reconstructed in a Park landmark. This new strategy was tested on the MATLAB Simulink environment for a load of 160 kW. The test results show a reduced Total Harmonic Distorsion (THD) of 2.7 times compared to the THD produced by the SPWM control strategy. In addition, regulation of the symmetrical components during load unbalance is ensured so that the inverter always delivers constant and balanced voltages.

The maternal mortality rate in Indonesia in 2015 was 305 out of 100,000 live births according to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkes). Based on data from the Ministry of Health's Center for Health and Information (2014), the main causes of maternal mortality from 2010-2013 were bleeding (30.3% in 2013) and hypertension (27.1% in 2013). Postpartum hemorrhage is bleeding that occurs after delivery (delivery), as much as 500 ml in vaginal delivery or more than 1000 ml in cesarean section. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the one-hand technique in reducing the amount of bleeding compared to the two-hand technique that has been used in third-stage active management. This study is an experimental quantitative study to compare the one-hand technique in third-stage active management versus the two-hand technique. The population was taken from all pregnant women who gave birth in the delivery room of KRI Maulidya Husada within three months. The number of samples in this study were 36 people, namely: 18 people using the one-hand technique that met the inclusion criteria and 18 people using the two hand technique who met the inclusion criteria. In this study, it is known that almost all respondents with spontaneous labor who were given the one-hand technique experienced bleeding less than 250cc, namely 61% and the two-hand technique treatment experienced bleeding more than 250cc, namely 39%

The beginning of twentieth century was accompanied with the prevailing current of technology in different aspects of human life. At first, it incited a positive stimulus which could build a utopian world on the advancement of technology. However, the bloody World Wars averted this view and the technological utopia was replaced by Orwellian dystopia. Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four is a satirical work which moves against Wells' utopian toward the reflection of a distorted technological society. Undoubtedly, satire is the best literary mode for dystopic depiction of the world specifically the one portrayed in Nineteen Eighty-Four. Winston Smith, the central character of this novel, is lower from his society in terms of intelligence and power of action. Therefore, he is put under rigid controls and brainwashing. And at last, he awfully rejects his love in favor the principles of the Party. Thus, in this study, we try to investigate Winston's romantic life in a satiric manner with respect to Northrop Frye's theme of romance which includes the three phase of agon, pathos and anagnorisis.

Since most power electronics used in photovoltaic (PV) inverters at commercial and industrial facilities exhibit behavior as non-linear loads from the grid side, these high-power demand installations are expected to have a major impact on the network’s power quality. In an attempt to facilitate their integration into the distribution grid, this paper presents a comprehensive control strategy for Quasi-Z Source T-Type PV inverters inside a facility, which performs active and reactive power control, and harmonic and imbalance compensation at expenses of the spare inverter power capacity. Unlike other approaches, the one proposed here operates properly under distorted and unbalanced grid voltages. The electrical network structure inside a commercial and industrial facility is considered, analyzing the operation of the proposed strategy on three-phase PV inverters. The power topology used has voltage boosting ability, which eliminates the requirement for both an additional DC-DC converter and/or a step-up transformer commonly used in PV inverter systems. The proposed strategy performance is demonstrated on a 50 kW converter model under a disturbed grid environment and changing load conditions.
