The digital relaying algorithm introduced in this paper is able to overcome the deterministic data delivery constraint placed on previous digital relaying solutions. Its performance when applied to a wide range of protective solutions is investigated in the next chapter, confirming its applicability to an integrated power system protection and control solution.
