O uso de Padrões de Design da Interface do Usuário (User Interface Design Patterns) (UIDP) é visto como uma boa prática para o desenvolvimento de softwares interativos. No entanto, ao aplicar esses padrões, o designer da interface pode introduzir problemas de acessibilidade no software. O objetivo deste trabalho é apresentar o processo de avaliação de um conjunto de recomendações, para uso de UIDP no desenvolvimento de aplicações para dispositivos móveis que evitem a inserção de problemas de acessibilidade.

Currently, many powerful applications designed to combat social deviations are available, like the web-filtering systems, which measure the content of a website before submitting it to the user, notifying whether the content of the website presents (or not) information related to pornography, violence, racism, among others, and prompting the user to not accessing the site, or even blocking access to the website. Nevertheless, frequently the feedback of these systems is not well-designed, which may confuse users and lead to mistakes, disappointments, and misunderstandings. In order to reduce this concern, a method is provided to developers with guidance in designing usable security notifications to be incorporated in web-filtering systems. The method is structured through a library of user interface design patterns which integrates essential concepts of security and usability. The authors show the effectiveness of the patterns by using an illustrative example as a proof-of-concept together with a preliminary study.

Seemingly trivial software does important cultural work, both reflecting hegemonic norms and providing opportunities for transforming them. Software applications for music production (music apps) within the iOS app store promise to broaden the potential for musical participation through simple, “fun,” user-friendly interface design. Yet, within the dominant user interface convention, “fun” is synonymous with the experience of instant success and effortless musical mastery. Drawing on semistructured interviews conducted with developers, and an analysis of shared user interface design conventions across three case studies of apps, ThumbJam, iMaschine 2, and Skram, I argue that normative conceptions of human perfectibility are assumed to be what generates an optimal user experience. Exploring theories of “queer fun,” and the importance of “failure” in studies of video gaming, I propose alternative conceptions of “fun,” and consider how, and with what effects, these might be implemented in the world of music apps.

O desenvolvimento de tecnologias assistivas é uma tarefa complexa, devido a necessidade atender necessidades específicas de pessoas como as psicomotoras que limitam a comunicação delas ou serem de fato indivíduos não verbais. Nesse contexto, este trabalho apresenta um novo Software as a Service (SaaS) para criar livros para apoiar um sistema baseado em Picture Exchange Communication (PEC) para pessoas com Transtorno do Espectro Autista (TEA) com limitações de psicomotricidade e limitação parcial ou total na comunicação verbal. Esse SaaS foi chamado de Panda e desenvolvido utilizando tecnologias Progressive Web App (PWA) para oferecer facilidade ao usuário e flexibilidade de uso em diferentes tipos de dispositivos móveis, oferecendo recursos de interface baseados User Interface Design Patterns (UIDP). Alguns resultados com o grupo de usuários mostraram adequação à ferramenta e seu pleno funcionamento sem conexão com a Internet, mas que implicações negativas com alguns recursos de interface são descritas e que estão sendo incrementados pela equipe de desenvolvimento para o pleno atendimento das necessidades sociais e vasta abrangência de uso esperada.
