It is well known that XML has been widely adopted for its flexible and self-describing nature. However, relational data will continue to co-exist with XML for several different reasons one of which is the high cost of transferring everything to XML. In this context, data designers face the problem of modeling both relational and XML data within an integrated environment. This chapter highlights important questions on hybrid XML-relational database design and discusses use cases, requirements, and deficiencies in existing design methodologies especially in the light of data and schema evolution. The authors’ analysis results in several design guidelines and a series of challenges to be addressed by future research.

PT. Duta Nichirindo Pratama is a company engaged in the field of Autoparts Manufacture. Barcode is the identity of an item / product on the package. Barcode technology has been used as the identity of goods in a production. Barcodes are used to facilitate the identification of goods produced. Paste the barcode on the packaging of packaging results at PT. Duta Nichirindo Pratama is done manually, but there are often errors attached to the barcode on a similar packaging. This research will design and create a system based on Visual Basic.Net and Arduino to select barcode attachment errors that have the potential to be sent to consumers. The system is designed using Unified Modeling Language (UML) diagrams, database design and interface menu design. The system created will then be tested to detect the black box test. With a computing-based design system that functions to detect barcodes on the packaging automatically, the problem of sticking barcodes on the packaging can be detected.

Процессные модели предметной области широко применяются при проектировании баз данных, а именно в ходе концептуального моделирования данных. Предлагается решение проблемы неоднозначности преобразования процессных доменных моделей типа SADT в концептуальные модели данных. Domain process models are widely used in database design, namely in conceptual data modeling. The solution of the problem of ambiguity of transformation of process domain models of the SADT type into conceptual data models is proposed.
