The motion of a single particle under the influence of the ponderomotive force directed perpendicular to the external magnetostatic field is analysed. By solving the exact equation of motion for a specific applied electromagnetic field, the resultant ponderomotive drift is compared with the prediction of a single-particle theory using the oscillation-centre approximation. The regime of validity of this theory is discussed. It is shown that, for certain values of the amplitude and frequency of the electromagnetic field, the particle motion is unstable and therefore the concept of a single-particle ponderomotive force is meaningless.

This paper presents the magnetostatic field analysis of a coaxial magnetic gear device proposed by Atallah and Howe. The structural configuration and speed reduction ratio of this magnetic gear device are introduced. The 2-dimensional finite-element analysis (2-D FEA), conducted by applying commercial FEA software Ansoft/Maxwell, is performed to evaluate the magnetostatic field distribution, especially for the magnetic flux densities within the outer air-gap. Once the number of steel pole-pieces equals the sum of the pole-pair numbers of the high-speed rotor and the low-speed rotor, the coaxial magnetic gear device possesses higher magnetic flux densities, thereby generating greater transmitted torque.

AbstractThe propagation of circularly polarized electromagnetic beams along the magnetostatic field in an electron plasma is investigated. As a consequence of a strong interaction with the medium, the beam spreads rapidly on propagation near the cutoff frequencies and the cyclotron resonant frequency of the corresponding plane waves, as well as near the plasma frequency. The power absorption for unit length near the cyclotron frequency and the plasma frequency are determined. For tightly focused beams, there is significant power absorption near the plasma frequency as compared with that at the cyclotron resonant frequency.

In frames of a quantum computer implementation, the ordered array of magnetic dipoles nanoparticles is considered. The phase space calculated for system of dipoles, which interact through long-range magnetostatic field. The behavior of nanoarchitectures in an external magnetic field is studied. The degeneracy of the equilibrium magnetic states depending on the value of an external magnetic field and the spin excess of configurations are determined. The presence of degeneration is a classical analog of quantum superposition, and distribution of probability of magnetic state is a classical representation of such quantum phenomena as entanglement.
