Flooding is one of the major disasters occurring in various parts of the world including Malaysia. To reduce the effect of the disaster, a flood warning and monitoring are needed to give an early warning to the victims at certain place with high prone to flood. By implementing Internet of Thing technology into the system, it could help the victim to get an accurate status of flood in real-time condition. This paper is develop a real-time flood monitoring and early warning system using wireless sensor node at a high prone area of flood. This system is based on NodeMCU based technology integrated using Blynk application. The wireless sensor node can help the victims by detecting the water levels and rain intensity while giving an early warning when a flood or heavy rain occurs. Basically, the sensor node consists of ultrasonic sensor and rain sensor controlled by NodeMCU as the microcontroller of the system which placed at the identified flood area. Buzzer and LED started to trigger and alert the victim when the flood had reached certain level of hazard. Data detected from the sensors are sent to the Blynk application via wireless connection. Victim will get to know the current status of flood and rain by viewing the interface and receiving push notification that available in Blynk application via IOS or Android smartphones. The flood level’s data sent to the email could help various organizations for further improvement of the system and flood forecasting purposes. After a test had been conducted, it was found that this prototype can monitor, detect and give warning with notification to the victim earlier before the occurrence of floods.

Real time electricity monitoring is critical to enable intelligent and customized energy management for users in residential, educational, and commercial buildings. This paper presents the design, integration, and testing of a simple, self-contained, low-power, non-invasive system at low cost applicable for such purpose. The system is powered by piezoelectric energy harvesters (EHs) based on PZT and includes a microcontroller unit (MCU) and a central hub. Real-time information regarding the electricity consumption is measured and communicated by the system, which ultimately offers a dependable and promising solution as a wireless sensor node. The dynamic power management ensures the system to work with different types of PZT EHs at a wide range of input power. Thus, the system is robust against fluctuation of the current in the electricity grid and requires minimum adjustment if EH unit requires exchange or upgrade. Experimental results demonstrate that this unit is in a position to read and transmit 60 Hz alternating current (AC) sensor signals with a high accuracy no less than 91.4%. The system is able to achieve an operation duty cycle from <1 min up to 18 min when the current in an electric wire varies from 7.6 A to 30 A, depending on the characteristics of different EHs and intensity of current being monitored.

The progress in the economic society has driven the rapid development of the logistics industry. In the face of increasingly enormous and complicated logistics systems, it is of great practical significance to study how to effectively control the logistics process, minimize the labour cost and provide real-time monitoring data for users. For this purpose, this paper designs an active logistics status tracking (ALST) system platform based on Wireless sensor network (WSN). This paper, by fully integrating the characteristics of WSN, designs the system architecture based on the design philosophy of active logistics status tracking method; it also constructs and realizes the hardware function modules such as wireless sensor node, vehicle gateway, user terminal and backend server etc., and adopts the finite-state machine (FSM)-based active tracking model to maintain the logistics object status; and then it carries out programming of wireless sensor node active state tracking in TinyOS2.x, and finally performs system test under normal operation. The active logistics status tracking system can be widely applied in the logistics industry, to optimize the logistics process, reduce losses and improve logistics operation efficiency.

Penerapan wireless sensor node (WSN) telah banyak dikembangkan untuk aplikasi monitoring parameter kesehatan pasien, salah satunya digunakan pada perangkat elektrokardiogram. Pada penelitian sebelumnya, dibuat sistem monitoring EKG menggunakan topologi multipoint to point berbasis perangkat transceiver Xbee[1]. Sistem tersebut menggunakan tiga node sensor dengan satu node kordinator sebagai penerima data dari semua node sensor. Pada topologi tersebut, tidak terdapat node yang difungsikan sebagai router sehingga tidak ada rute alternatif jika terjadi kesalahan pada suatu node. Selain itu, tidak dapat digunakan untuk jarak transmisi yang lebih jauh. Solusi permasalahan tersebut adalah dengan mengaplikasikan topologi jaringan mesh. Sistem ini digunakan untuk aplikasi monitoring EKG secara real time yang terdiri dari 4 buah node sensor. Dimana 3 buah node sensor berfungsi sebagai router, 1 buah node sensor sebagai end device dan 1 buah kordinator pada bagian penerima sebagai pusat pengolah data. Dari hasil pengujian diperoleh bahwa data dari setiap node sensor diterima dengan baik. Penambahan karakter diperlukan untuk identifikasi sumber node. Proses routing berjalan dengan baik ketika ada node yang mengalami gangguan.
