The integration of electric vehicles (EVs) in power systems can be encouraged by charging station diffusion. These stations can perform smart charging processes, and can take advantage of the involvement of distributed generation sources in a microgrid framework. Furthermore, since photovoltaic batteries and EVs are sources based on direct current (DC), the realization of a DC microgrid structure is promising, though challenging. In this paper, a mixed-integer linear procedure for determining optimal operation planning of a DC-based electric vehicle supply infrastructure is proposed. The procedure aims at optimizing daily operational costs, based on forecast of photovoltaic production and EV exploitation. Peculiar aspects of energy storage devices and of the DC microgrid framework are accounted for through a non-linear iterative procedure. The proposed approach is applied to a test DC microgrid on different operation days and its effectiveness is compared to non-linear formulation solved by means of a genetic algorithm.

The environmental degradation and increased power demand has forced modern power systems to operate at the closest stability boundaries. Thereby, the power systems operations mainly focus for the inclusion of transient stability constraints in an optimal power flow (OPF) problem. Algebraic and differential equations are including in non-linear optimization problems formed by the transient stability constrained based OPF problem (TSCOPF). Notably, for a small to large power systems solving these non-linear optimization problems is a complex task. In order to achieve the increased power carrying capacity by a power line, the Flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS) devices provides the best supported means a lot. As a result, even under a network contingency condition, the security of the power system is also highly improved with FACTS devices. The FACTS technology has the potential in controlling the routing of the line power flows and the capability of interconnecting networks making the possibility of trading energy between distant agents. This paper presents a new evolutionary algorithm for solving TSCOPF problems with a FACTS device namely adaptive unified differential evolution (AuDE). The large non-convex and nonlinear problems are solved for achieving global optimal solutions using a new evolutionary algorithm called AuDE. Numerical tests on the IEEE 30-bus 6-generator, and IEEE New England 10-generator, 39-bus system have shown the robustness and effectiveness of the proposed AuDE approach for solving TSCOPF in the presence of a FACTS device such as the SSSC device. Due to the page limitation only 30-bus results are presented.

Data-driven methods using synchrophasor measurements have a broad application prospect in Transient Stability Assessment (TSA). Most previous studies only focused on predicting whether the power system is stable or not after disturbance, which lacked a quantitative analysis of the risk of transient stability. Therefore, this paper proposes a two-stage power system TSA method based on snapshot ensemble long short-term memory (LSTM) network. This method can efficiently build an ensemble model through a single training process, and employ the disturbed trajectory measurements as the inputs, which can realize rapid end-to-end TSA. In the first stage, dynamic hierarchical assessment is carried out through the classifier, so as to screen out credible samples step by step. In the second stage, the regressor is used to predict the transient stability margin of the credible stable samples and the undetermined samples, and combined with the built risk function to realize the risk quantification of transient angle stability. Furthermore, by modifying the loss function of the model, it effectively overcomes sample imbalance and overlapping. The simulation results show that the proposed method can not only accurately predict binary information representing transient stability status of samples, but also reasonably reflect the transient safety risk level of power systems, providing reliable reference for the subsequent control.
