Mục đích của nghiên cứu này được dựa trên phương pháp miền nhỏ hữu hạn với công thức véc tơ từ thế để phân tích lực điện từ tạo ra bởi sự phân bố của mật độ từ cảm tản trong khe hở không khí và mật độ dòng điện trong các cuộn dây, cái mà khó có thể thực hiện trực tiếp bằng phương pháp phần tử hữu hạn, khi mà một số vùng dẫn nghiên cứu có kích thước rất nhỏ so với toàn bộ miền nghiên cứu. Phương pháp bài toán nhỏ được áp dụng ở đây để liên kết các bài toán theo một vài  bước: Một bài toán với mô hình đơn giản (các cuộn dây) được giải trước. Bài toán tiếp theo bao gồm một hoặc nhiều miền dẫn từ được đưa vào để hiệu chỉnh sai số do bài toán trước đó gây ra. Tất cả các bước đều được giải độc lập trong lưới và miền hình học khác nhau, điều này tạo thuận lợi cho việc chia lưới cũng như tăng tốc độ tính toán của mỗi một bài toán nhỏ.

Purpose The simulation of eddy currents in laminated iron cores by the finite element method (FEM) is of great interest in the design of electrical devices. Modeling each laminate by finite elements leads to extremely large nonlinear systems of equations impossible to solve with present computer resources reasonably. The purpose of this study is to show that the multiscale finite element method (MSFEM) overcomes this difficulty. Design/methodology/approach A new MSFEM approach for eddy currents of laminated nonlinear iron cores in three dimensions based on the magnetic vector potential is presented. How to construct the MSFEM approach in principal is shown. The MSFEM with the Biot–Savart field in the frequency domain, a higher-order approach, the time stepping method and with the harmonic balance method are introduced and studied. Findings Various simulations demonstrate the feasibility, efficiency and versatility of the new MSFEM. Originality/value The novel MSFEM solves true three-dimensional eddy current problems in laminated iron cores taking into account of the edge effect.

An enhanced multi-grid method eliminating the error correction process of the conventional multi-grid method is presented for solving Poissonian problems and tested on two simple two-dimensional magnetostatic field problems. The finite element method (FEM) was used to solve for the vector potential in a sequence of grids. The gains in computation time are shown to be immense compared to the standard multi-grid methods, especially as the matrix system grows in size. These gains are very useful in solving electromagnetic problems using the finite element method.

Theoretical model of calculating magnetic field of typical ferrofluid sealing structures with magnetic vector potential method is built. Based on the theoretical model, magnetic field distribution of rectangular teeth, two-sides dilated shape and one-side dilated shape teeth structures with common other conditions were calculated using finite element method when the sealing gap was 0.1mm and 0.12mm. The comparison of their results with the same sealing gap showed that one-side dilated shape teeth structure had higher pressure capability than other shape teeth under reasonable design.

To obtain the simulated eddy current testing (ECT) signals of steam generator (SG) in nuclear power plant (NPP), nodal-based finite element (FE) analysis with magnetic vector potential (MVP) is usually used. To perform the numerical analysis, we derive the governing equation in terms of MVP and electric scalar potential (ESP) from Maxwell’s equations. To insure the uniqueness of solution, gauge condition has to be considered. In eddy current problems, Coulomb gauge condition (CGC) is usually used. In 2-D or 3-D axis-symmetric analysis, CGC is included during formulation and ESP is eliminated using some special assumption. Because CGC is not used during the formulation in 3-D analysis, we have to include artificially. And because of the heavy computation cost for 3-D analysis modified magnetic vector potential (MMVP) is used by elimination ESP. In this paper, effects of artificial treatment of CGC and elimination of ESP on ECT signal are investigated in order to help for obtaining accurate numerical simulation results.

The single-phase three-limb transformer is used to carry out experiments under sinusoidal and dc-biased excitations. The exciting currents and magnetic vector potential are computed simultaneously by the harmonic-balanced finite-element method. Harmonic analysis of the nonlinear magnetic field is presented based on the harmonic solution of the magnetic vector potential. The calculated exciting current agrees well with the measured result, which verifies the effectiveness of the proposed method.
