The Atmosphere-Space Interactions Monitor (ASIM) has been installed on board of the International Space Station in April 2018, successfully providing science data for 2.5 years. The Modular X- and Gamma-ray Sensor (MXGS) of ASIM is designed to detect Terrestrial Gamma-ray Flashes (TGFs) (short intense bursts of gamma-ray photons), produced during the initial breakdown phase of the +IC lightning discharges.

In this contribution we report and summarize the results on the ASIM TFGs associated with high peak current lightning detections (detected by GLD and WWLLN networks). High peak current detections tend to be associated with short duration TGFs and do not exhibit a tendency to correlate with the fluence of the TGF.

A bipolar triangular wave current pulse inverter for shallow TEM survey is described. It can generate a peak current more than 10A and the PRF of the bipolar current pulse is between 1Hz and 10kHz. The proposed inverter contains a high voltage source circuit for the rising edge and a Zener diodes circuit with constant voltage clamping for the falling edge. Measurement results are presented, which show the high quality triangular wave current pulse with linear rising edge and rapidly turnoff falling edge.

The machining characteristics of SiC/Al composite using wire electro discharge machining (WEDM) were investigated in this study. Material cutting speed and surface roughness value were adopted to evaluate the machinability. Peak current, pulse on time, pulse duration and working voltage were selected as the input variables to investigate the machining performance. Effects of input variables on the cutting speed and surface roughness were experimentally tested. Peak current, pulse on time and working voltage were confirmed to have positive effects on cutting speed and surface roughness value. Whereas the cutting speed and surface roughness value decrease with the increase of pulse duration.
