Abstract Agustina Bessa-Luís and Brazil: dairy of a journey. This article analyses Breviário do Brasil (Brazilian Breviary) (1991), book that is the result of a trip of the author to Brazil in 1998, by the occasion of the cycle “The Portugueses meet their history”. The analyses studies the genre of traveling report within the large work of Agustina Bessa- Luís and her impressions of Brazil within the context of the theme of this symposium, resentment and fascination.

Scientifically based establishment of hygienically permissible concentrations of dust is possible only on the basis of comparison of air dustiness and health condition of the relevant group of workers. With the exception of a large work by Magrоverdate, based on extensive material, we know of almost no attempts to approach the question from such a point of view. It therefore seemed advisable to make observations on workers in certain occupations exposed to more or less constant concentrations of dust.

AbstractAn Mo gate work function control technique which uses annealing or N+ ion implantation has been reported by Ranade et al. We have fabricated Mo-gate MOS diodes, based on their report, with 5-20 nm SiO2 and found that the gate leakage current was increased as the N+ implantation dose and implantation energy were increased. Although a work function shift was observed in the C-V characteristics, a hump caused by high-density interface states was found for high-dose specimens. Nevertheless, a work function shift larger than -1V was achieved. However, nitrogen concentration at the Si surface was about 1x1020 cm-3 for the specimen with a large work function shift.

Abstract Owing to its large work function, MoOX has been widely used for hole-selective contact in both thin film and crystalline silicon solar cells. In this work, thermally evaporated MoOX films are employed on the rear sides of p-type crystalline silicon (p-Si) solar cells, where the optical and electronic properties of the MoOX films as well as the corresponding device performances are investigated as a function of post-annealing treatment. The MoOX film annealed at 100oC shows the highest work function and proves the best hole selectivity based on the results of energy band simulation and contact resistivity measurements. The full rear p-Si/MoOX/Ag contacted solar cells demonstrate the best performance with an efficiency of 19.19%, which is the result of the combined influence of MoOX’s hole selectivity and passivation ability.

In mobile machine industry, work machine simulators can be used to save time and costs in product development and training. However, investing into expensive or difficult-to-use technology should be avoided if it does not affect measurable user performance or feeling of presence. At Tampere University of Technology, a virtual loader simulator has been constructed in an three-wall walk-in virtual environment. The goal of this research was to investigate how the immersivity of the simulator affects testers’ feeling of presence. A total of 25 test users performed two test runs each with different simulator setups, and the presence level of each user was evaluated by a questionnaire after both runs. The results indicate that switching from 2D view to 3D stereoscopic display did not significantly affect the sense of presence. However, with the motion platform, the test users reported clearly higher presence ratings than without it. In addition, we examined some effects of the users’ backgrounds: Test users who had experience from driving large work machines reported lower presence ratings than those without such experience. The sense of presence for frequent computer players was higher than for non-players, but only in one simulator setup.
