The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Ni(C7H5O3)(C14H12N2)(H2O)2]NO3, comprises one half of the NiII complex cation and one half of the non-coordinated nitrate anion, as both the Ni atom and the N and one O atoms of the anion lie on twofold rotation axes. The Ni2+ cation is coordinated by a bidentate 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (dmphen) ligand, two water molecules and a bidentate 3-hydroxybenzoate anion in a distorted octahedral environment. The OH group of the benzoate is disordered over two positions with equal occupancy. An extensive series of O—H...O hydrogen bonds leads to a supramolecular network structure.

The complex cation of the title compound, [Co(CO3)(C10H8N2)2]2(C12H10N2O6)·6H2O, contains a CoIIIatom with a distorted octahedral coordination environment formed by four N atoms from two bidentate 2,2′-bipyridine ligands and one bidentate carbonate anion. The asymmetric unit is completed by one-half of the 2-({4-[(carboxylatomethyl)carbamoyl]phenyl}formamido)acetate dianion, which is located on a centre of inversion, and by three water molecules. Two [Co(CO3)(C10H8N2)2]+cations are connected through C—H...O contacts by the uncoordinating anions. The aromatic rings of the 2,2′-bipyridine ligands and diacetate anions are involved in π–π stacking and C—H...π interactions. The centroid–centroid distances are in the range 3.4898 (4)–3.6384 (5) Å. The crystal structure is stabilized by further O—H...O and N—H...O hydrogen bonds, which give rise to a three-dimensional supramolecular network.

In the MnIII complex of the title compound, [MnIII(C18H12N4O2)(H2O)2]ClO4, the MnIII atom is coordinated by four N atoms from the bpb2− [1,2-bis(pyridine-2-carboxamido)benzene] ligand located in the equatorial plane and two O atoms of water molecules at axial positions, yielding a distorted MnN4O2 octahedral coordination geometry. The bpb2− ligand is nearly planar, with a maximum deviation of 0.2311 (3) Å from the mean plane. The MnIII complex cation and the perchlorate anion, both of which are located on twofold rotation axes, are connected by O—H...O and C—H...O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional supramolecular network structure.

In the title salt, [Ni(C5H12N2)2(H2O)2]Cl2, the asymmetric unit is comprised of half of the complex cation and a chloride ion with the NiII atom of the cation situated about a twofold rotation axis. The six-coordinate NiII atom of the cation is connected to four N atoms from two methyl-substituted ethyelenediamine ligands and two water molecules in a slightly distorted octahedral environment. The five-membered chelate ring is in a slight envelope conformation. The crystal packing features O—H...Cl and N—H...Cl intermolecular interactions with the Cl− ion forming weak bifurcated hydrogen bonds with nearby water molecules and N—H interactions, leading to a three-dimensional supramolecular network structure.

The title compounds,catena-poly[[[bis[(R)-propane-1,2-diamine-κ2N,N′]copper(II)]-μ-cyanido-κ2N:C-[tris(cyanido-κC)(nitroso-κN)iron(III)]-μ-cyanido-κ2C:N] monohydrate], {[Cu(Lpn)2][Fe(CN)5(NO)]·H2O}n, (I), and poly[[hexa-μ-cyanido-κ12C:N-hexacyanido-κ6C-hexakis[(R)-propane-1,2-diamine-κ2N,N′]dichromium(III)tricopper(II)] pentahydrate], {[Cu(Lpn)2]3[Cr(CN)6]2·5H2O}n, (II) [where Lpn = (R)-propane-1,2-diamine, C3H10N2], are new chiral cyanide-bridged bimetallic coordination polymers. The asymmetric unit of compound (I) is composed of two independent cation–anion units of {[Cu(Lpn)2][Fe(CN)5)(NO)]} and two water molecules. The FeIIIatoms have distorted octahedral geometries, while the CuIIatoms can be considered to be pentacoordinate. In the crystal, however, the units align to form zigzag cyanide-bridged chains propagating along [101]. Hence, the CuIIatoms have distorted octahedral coordination spheres with extremely long semicoordination Cu—N(cyanido) bridging bonds. The chains are linked by O—H...N and N—H...N hydrogen bonds, forming two-dimensional networks parallel to (010), and the networks are linkedviaN—H...O and N—H...N hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional framework. Compound (II) is a two-dimensional cyanide-bridged coordination polymer. The asymmetric unit is composed of two chiral {[Cu(Lpn)2][Cr(CN)6]}−anions bridged by a chiral [Cu(Lpn)2]2+cation and five water molecules of crystallization. Both the CrIIIatoms and the central CuIIatom have distorted octahedral geometries. The coordination spheres of the outer CuIIatoms of the asymmetric unit can be considered to be pentacoordinate. In the crystal, these units are bridged by long semicoordination Cu—N(cyanide) bridging bonds forming a two-dimensional network, hence these CuIIatoms now have distorted octahedral geometries. The networks, which lie parallel to (10-1), are linkedviaO—H...O, O—H...N, N—H...O and N—H...N hydrogen bonds involving all five non-coordinating water molecules, the cyanide N atoms and the NH2groups of the Lpn ligands, forming a three-dimensional framework.

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Mn(C6H6N4)2(H2O)2](C8H4O4), contains one-half each of the centrosymmetric cation and anion. The MnII atom is coordinated by four N atoms [Mn—N = 2.2168 (14) and 2.2407 (14) Å] from two 2,2′-biimidazole ligands and two water molecules [Mn—O = 2.2521 (14) Å] in a distorted octahedral geometry. Intermolecular N—H...O and O—H...O hydrogen bonds consolidate the crystal packing, which also exhibits π–π interactions between five-membered rings, with a centroid–centroid distance of 3.409 (2) Å.

In the complex cation of the title salt, [Co(C12H8N2)3](C10H5O8)2·H2O, the CoII cation is situated on a twofold rotation axis and is coordinated in a distorted octahedral manner by six N atoms from three chelating 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligands. In the crystal, the non-coordinating 2,4,5-tricarboxybenzoate anions interact with each other via O—H...O hydrogen bonds, generating a two-dimensional network parallel to (100). Adjacent sheets are connected by waterO—H...Ocarboxylate hydrogen bonds, resulting in a three-dimensional network structure that surrounds the complex cations.

In the title polymeric complex, {[Fe(C12H10N2)2(H2O)4](CH3C6H4SO3)2·2CH3OH}n, the FeIIcation, located on an inversion centre, is coordinated by four water molecules in the equatorial positions and two 1,2-bis(pyridin-4-yl)ethene molecules in the axial positions. This results in a distorted octahedral geometry for the [N2O4] coordination polyhedron. The 1,2-bis(pyridin-4-yl)ethene molecules bridge the FeIIcations, forming polymeric chains running along thea-axis direction. Stabilization of the crystal structure is provided by O—H...O hydrogen bonds; these are formed by coordinated water molecules as donors towards the O atoms of the methanol molecules and tosylate anions as acceptors of protons, leading to the formation of a three-dimensional supramolecular network. Weak C—H...O hydrogen bonds are also observed in the crystal.
