A thermodynamically consistent density dependent quark mass model has been used to study the velocity of sound in a hot quark–gluon plasma. The results are compared with the recent lattice data.

The superconducting properties of a strange quark star are investigated using the relativistic theory of superconductivity for a fermion system. A dynamical density-dependent quark mass model is used for confinement. The type of superconductivity and the magnetostatic properties for the material of the star are also studied.

The recently introduced Deformation-Dependent Mass model is combined with a variational approach to the Bohr Hamiltonian in order to describe transitional nuclei. The results of this procedure are demon- strated for the ‘spherical to γ-unstable’ and the ‘spherical to deformed’ transitional classes, which corre- spond to the E(5) and X(5) solutions.
